From an earlier thread, kind of a fun way to do it.....

errr, ah, just noticed you posted in that one earlier...

I kind of like name boy dot com for coming up with ideas. Also, at godaddy dot com, there is a decent domain suggestion feature when you try to reg a domain. I've looked at thesaurus.com in the past. Also, at namepros.com , post under domains wanted, and post a low amount you are willing to pay, along with a topic. It is surprising how many domains you will be offered.

Yeah, Godaddy has a somewhat decent tool. I primarily use it and the Thesaurus these days, which helps me immensely in coming up with names that aren't cheesy (which I'm good at!).

I like the options at DomainTools.com (formerly whois.sc). For instance, their "Domain Suggestions" for "kids toys" returns some suggestions like:

    KidsToysGuide.com
    ChildrenGadgets.com
    GreatToysUSA.com
    BestToysCheap.com

Their For Sale section for the same query turns up some gems like:

    BestToysForKids.com for $5
    LearningToysForKids.com for $88-$150
    GreatToysForKids.com for $250-$300

I've found tons of great domain names there.

A few good online tools have been mentioned - I like DotComBlitz domain tools.
I recommend Domain Punch Pro -windows application that offers a name generator as well as a number of other useful tools to track and find and manage your domain names.

    Nameboy.com was/is good also.

Whois.net is good to see keyword / domain saturation.

When one is brainstorming in order to develop domain names how does one know that it's not taken and/or will not be taken before one signs up for the domain?
