Speaking of luxury, Revenue had a pretty good article about the rise in luxury purchases online (furniture being one of the faster growing categories..).

Though I'm not too sure how well diamond studded cameras will sell, unless your audience includes p. diddy..

LOL, but, you know, somebody is going to buy it, we just need to be there, at the right time and hope the link will not time out.

You'll have to purchase the magazine, or sign up for their digital service (http://www.revenuetoday.com/). The particular article is called "The Posh Payoff". Learned a few good bits of info from it.

it does not serve it's purpose. More of a fashion statement.
That camera cost $399 max but with the diamonds, it does not enhance the performance or features.

    Bejeweled Canon PowerShot Digital ELPH
Proceeds from an auction of the five 10th anniversary Canon ELPH cameras, which are decorated with real diamonds and valued at about $50,000 each, will go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Cannon UK has a similar effort with proceeds from that auction going to the Red Cross.
It's like covering every inch of your house with 24k gold flakes. Try selling it..

I can understand about paying for good quality furniture but electronics with diamonds on it.. i have to draw the line somewhere

Diamonds themselves are already an over-priced commodity (WATCH the movie "Blood Diamonds"), a 5G camera with costs 50K with diamonds! But, surely, there are ignorant enough people on earth that'll choke up that kind of dough...

Here is one that touches on it - http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1124/p01s02-usec.html

I've been reading that discount ops will be down and even though only 6% of the US population spends on luxury items, the increase in sales for TY is forecasted at around 75%+. Biggest items - large tv's & rugs and furniture. I guess it all depends on what the surveys consider "luxury" items. I tend to think of it as a pricetag deal, like.. $1,000+ is luxury.
