    Walmart.com Scheduled Maintenance
Walmart.com is temporarily unavailable while we make important upgrades to our site. We appreciate your patience and invite you to return soon.

That's BLACK FRIDAY SALE. For others, whose in line in the stores. Affiliates are just good enough to advertise their sales for black friday, not to earn commissions on these sales.

I know, I just saw this! How can they not be prepared for today?! I upgraded my server just a few days ago for good measure. Walmart should be tossing additional servers in their pool just to be safe.

    I'm getting this message:

Walmart .com is temporarily unavailable due to high traffic volume. We appreciate your patience. Please check back shortly to see our great values.

So most people will try to go to Walmart online and can't so then go to the store, which most people are within 10 minutes of one. Result we get no commission!

It's amazing that this would happen to a retailing giant like Walmart. I had a visitor ask me about a Walmart link that "was not working" - it wasn't the link - it was their web site. It was incredibly slow this morning, and they were not prepared for the onslaught of online shoppers.

Their online Black Friday sale this morning was a mess. I got up at 3:55am this morning (5 minutes before it was supposed to start). Several items were already sold out. Their site was really slow. I had 12 items I was interested in. Some were sold out. Some never became available. I got about 6 added to my cart. Shipping and tax was almost as much as the products, so I removed some of the bigger ones. Then, their site went down. By the time it came back up, only two of the items I wanted were left. I didn't even place an order.

Staples had some awesome prices this morning (320GB external drive for $80, etc.), and I was able to buy everything there I wanted. Their site was running fine.

On CBS nightly news they had a short blurb about the Walmart site going down because it couldn't handle the traffic.

I guess its better to go down because of high traffic, rather than a DDOS.
    (not much though)
