    Unhappy Getting started - relative paths problem
    Having just started with Webmerge, I'm fumbling at the moment. I have reached a roadblock with a problem that you experts will be able to sort out quicker than a very quick shake of a duck's tail on a frosty morning.

    The problem is that I need relative URLs in my templates (they provide links to stylesheets and scripts) but when WebMerge creates pages from the templates it converts my relative paths to the current fixed paths, so instead of ../folder/stylesheet.css (in the template) it writes file:///C:/folder/stylesheet.css (or some such). There must be some switch somewhere that would turn this behavior off? Or what??

    Thanks in advance for any help given.

    relative path problem
    I have not run into this issue with version 2.4.

    What version are you using?

    My style sheet is referenced this way, right above the closing head tag.
    <link href="../style.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet">
    </head>

    Hope this might help.

    Thanks for your post, Debra.

    I'm using Webmerge 2.4.1. My stylesheet reference is in the same (standard) form as yours and is in the <head> section of my template. Other relative paths on the template page are also being converted to fixed paths by Webmerge when they appear on the generated pages.

    Incidentally I have read about page saves from some browsers exhibiting this behavior, but, needless to say, I am not saving these pages from my browser - the changes to the paths occur in the freshly-generated-by-Webmerge pages.

    To be clear, this is happening after you have uploaded the generated pages to the server?

    Yes and No! The change is found in freshly-generated pages, whether Webmerge's 'Create in folder...' is set to a folder in My Documents or a folder on the website.

    I appreciate your help.

    I've found the cause. I authored my templates in FrontPage and saved them to a folder outside the website. It was at that point that the relative paths were
    transformed to absolute ones by FrontPage, not when they were acted on by WebMerge. Newbies beware!

    Aha! Sorry to be a late entry, glad you found the issue. I was going to ask the same question as above, that is - How does it look after the upload (most common situation).
