ChaCha Search - Search With A Guide (Real Person)
Someone on my forum posted about it, I tried it:

    http://search.chacha.com/search/quer...rch+With+Guide

I was searching for some more on it and came upon this thread about it:

    http://forums.sohh.com/showthread.php?t=784361

Probably not a good idea. Going to get pranked up.

But it really isn't live people, it is just AIs, right? The phrasing seems off and the ability to trip them up with slight spelling mistakes seems to make me doubt a human.

And you didnt rate me...now that wasnt very nice, was it?

Yes, cha cha is powered by REAL LIVE people. There is an option to search WITHOUT a guide, but those results are sometimes quite iffy.

    Any more questions?

Ah, you are real Thanks for stopping by. Had to get the pizza out of the oven, it was about to burn, forgot to rate. Am curious as to what percentage are real searches compared to people pranking? Seems like you guys might get a lot of that?

If you can, edit your post so my last initial is removed...

    thanks

the site I asked you about...the genmay one... has a thread going ( 33 pages at last check) full of prank conversations theyve done.

I think I got them all.

"the site I asked you about...the genmay one... has a thread going ( 33 pages at last check) full of prank conversations theyve done."

Ah, same with the one I linked too above. I figured that would become a problem and how you guys would handle that.

some of them are pretty funny...amusing ones I dont mind, heck up until the 10 minute mark i get paid for it...and sometimes its good for a laugh. the only ones that really bug me are the ones that get profane, or just disgusting....we have a button ( report abuse) but I dont know what it actually does...I guess it kicks the "infoseeker" off, I'm not sure...I know it disconnects me from the search, though...

all guides are different though, and I suppose tolerance levels vary. But yes, we do put up with a lot, some days...

Overall, I really do like it. The site initially opened at Alpha phase, and was just riddled with glitches and down time. It went Beta maybe a couple of weeks ago, and seems to be better, although I am still getting a stupid java error that prevents me from pulling up sites sometimes. usually not for a real search, but most often in trainings. But overall site up time has improved dramatically.

When we get a search in, theres no way for us to tell if its another guide searching ( just to support the site) or someone who found out about it some other way. Depending on how quickly I need the information, I'll use it ( not if i can find it quicker myself), or even if I'm having a hard time finding something sometimes someone else has better luck.

None of us are getting rich off of it, but like I said, it really did pay for my black friday shopping! ( totaled out to be a little over $300), and I do this between a 7 month old baby and a 8 year old, and my online store (which is dismally slow, but thats a whole other thread)

I actually get people from time to time asking about making money online but as a little extra income because they want to keep their main job or for whatever reason. So not sure if you're allowed to say but the pay is $5 an hour and they pay weekly or monthly? And you can just sign up at the site? I see the sign up page:

as of this moment, no new guides are being signed up. Invitations should be opened back up in mid december ( per the latest email). Should anyone be interested, I can send invitations at that point.

Pay is per SEARCH HOUR, meaning, I am paid for the time I actually spend searching and training new guides. IF I try really hard, I can make about $20 a day...I have heard of others making more, but thats a good effort on my part and kids cooperating and me not needing to do much around the house! lol

There is a 10 minute time "limit" for guides...meaning we get paid for the first 10 minutes of a search. After that, we're on our own time. It used to be 20 minutes, but apparantly people were "milking" the system and cha cha cut back on it. I have asked for searches that have gone over the 10 minute limit, and have not noticed a decrease in customer service or results. As well, many of my searches go OVER 10 minutes, and it does not stop me from helping the person find what they need! YOUR search was 17 minutes and some odd seconds, and i didnt kick you off, even though I did realize well before that point that it was not too serious of an inquiry! ( now the genuine pranksters I dont let go past the 10 minutes...lol)

You can be paid DAILY- thats one of the REALLY cool features. You open an account with the bank they are affliated with and are sent a debit card ( the bank does not do a credit report for cha cha guides, so everyone can get one). You ARE charged a $2 transfer fee each time you cash out. Your money usually goes into the account and can be spent within minutes, although I have seen it take up to an hour. Because of the fee, I usually do a deposit every $30 or so...depending on if I need it or if i can wait...

I looked at that other thread that was posted and it did get kinda snarky there! ugh....

Not very scalable, but we now have Debbie in the ABW neighborhood. Welcome

Read around this forum and with some effort you can make $20 an hour......every hour...whether you are dealing with your kids or not....and not have to put up with Trust and his searches for pizza

I think it is $20 a day which means she manages to get in 4 search hours or 24ish searches. Is that correct Debbie?

Welcome to AbestWeb as well =0)

Wow, this is enlightening. At those rates, I bet you could do some interesting PPC scheming. I can see the ebooks now:

"Buying out a ChaCha Guide to Promote your site: The New SEM."

I kid, of course, but someone will try it...
