In light of recent (and long standing problems) should CJ make a requirement that when merchants redo their sites, they send each affiliate an email notifying us at least 1 week before changes are made, and then 1 day after changes are made so we can check our pages and links?

Only if it has an impact on product page names/locations. If it's a cosmetic change (no matter how drastic), I don't care.

If it disables all my links, oh how I care.

Your poll is vague but I think you are saying if an advertiser changes their site in such a way that it alters their links then publishers should be notified one week in advance. If this is the case then I agree. On the other hand it is not realistic to think that a publisher should be notified if an advertiser changes their site in such a way where their links are not altered.

Anyways. Hopefully there is some progress made in this area to minimize the work that publishers must go through each time an advertisers changes their links. It's not really CJ's responsibility to make sure publishers are compliant with advertisers but it would be good for business.

Yes, that's what I meant. The loss of links.

But just FYI, we had a our number 3 merchant change their site twice this year (just looks and navigation) and they have gone from number 3 to number 10 in terms of $, (with us) and in fact for the last 45 days, we've had ZERO sales from them. So, for us, any change in a site's navigation, and look do effect sales.

Rather than email, CJ should maintain a database of changes that might affect commissions, and have a page where you can see all of the changes that take place.

A database of changes would make it easier for affiliates to make deliberate decisions. A flood of emails just consumes bandwidth.
