Just curious, how old are you guys? Who's the oldest and the youngest here?

The first computer I ran a program on was my first year of college. It was the size of a warehouse, data entered by IBM punch cards. There were no PC's, monitors, mice or windows.

I can remember that even if computers had been invented I could not have had one because we only had gas lighting in our house

I am a young at heart 56 but that bloody arthritis or rhumatism whatever it is makes me feel like 106 some days.

Old enough to know what's right, but young enough not to do it.

What really surprises me is how many people here are over 30, and there seem to be a significant number who are in their 40s and even 50s. I always thought the internet biz was younger (as far as the people working in it) than it apparently is.

It's not polite to ask a lady her age , but I will say I'm 30 and change. And, well, I do seem to have a lot of change sitting around at the moment (I collect it and give it away every month - maybe that's why I look so young! )

Oh please, I had my first gray hair when I was 16.

quote:
I always thought the internet biz was younger (as far as the people working in it) than it apparently is.

My mother once read an article that talked about how young people were in the Internet biz. Now, please note two things: 1)She is generally the kindest woman you would ever hope to meet; 2) She knows NOTHING about the Internet.

After reading the article she, not so kindly, informed me that I was "lucky" to have my job, what with "being as OLD as you are."

    >>Just watch it you cheeky young whippersnapper<<

Ha! If I'm a whippersnapper, then what are all these 20-somethings in our midst - embryos!?

BTW, I found my first gray hair when I was 23 - I started crying. I usually don't find 'em anymore 'cause I dye my hair.

I actually had a feeling that a good percentage of ABW members would be in their 30's.

Hey, I'm 39. And that's what you'll probably hear from me for years to come, too !

First grey hair at 22 (I only worried because I was doing a lot of work at the campus breeder reactor at the time...), and now lots of salt in the pepper. Doesn't bother me, since the invention of hats and wigs  .

But I don't like how much harder it's been getting to manage on less than 6 hours of sleep a night!
