It bl**dy (sorry about the language) amazes me, if you comit a small armed robbery or something they will get you and extradite you but if you kill (or help to plan) thousands they don't seem to care.
Maybe one day they will realise your founding fathers (and other countries governments) meant the constitution for the benefit of the country and the majority of its people not the radical minorities.

The Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights is for All the citizens radical and otherwise.

If we cannot survive as a country with justice for all, we do not deserve to survive.

The test of our Constitution is not how well it works when there is no threat to liberty but rather how well it works when liberty IS threatened.

I am not trying to stir things up. This is Midnight Cafe, i.e. Lounge and I felt this would be of interest to all.

But, good grief, we never used to have to worry if things were stirred up a bit.

I am not saying anything against you ssanf, it is just that whenever I start on politics or religion it always develops into much more and I do not want to be involved in anything like that. take care.

"The Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights is for All the citizens radical and otherwise.~Ssanf".

Agreed. Gordon, remember that some of the citizens who founded this country were considered quite radical back home. If anything, the Constitution is to protect radicals from persecution by the majority (until they actually commit a crime)!!!

But I will disagree with Ssanf's assertion that the US "doesn't deserve to survive" if we cannot have justice for all. Rather, I think the US should *continue to work for 'Justice for All'*, even if a state of perfection isn't reached yet, or some backsliding occurs along the way.

If the US stopped existing due to injustice, it would have reverted to being European territory the minute the first slave hit the shores.

It's by continued efforts to bring equal justice to *every* citizen, that the US has greatly improved in the last 100 years and will continue to improve in the future.

I am currently leaving this thread open since the posts so far haven't been insulting (IMO, anyway...) but we mods WILL be watching it closely.

Everyone, let's try to keep the discussion civil, and NOT paint any groups with a broad brush! Otherwise this thread will indeed have to be locked!

Ssanf--Usually it's okay to have a campfire, too--but not when there's an extreme risk of a forest fire!

I respect all peoples opinions but I would prefer to keep mine to myself to prevent any animosity developing between us.
I will just lurk and digest and keep my opinions to myself.
I look forward to reading further posts.

People who do not live here probably do not understand that the vast majority of us would willing die to protect our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. That is how strongly we value them.

The only thing now Bin Laden can accomplish is the death of Iraq. I mean, really. If he poisons water systems, or whatever, it's obvious that we are just going to respond by destroying Iraq. He needs to crawl under a rock and hide for the rest of his flea-bitten existence, before he completely undermines and kills his allies.

Aren't you going to do that anyway?

And after Iraq is destroyed, will President Bush finally give President Blair a medal?

That's all we need. Having been incorporated on September 10, 2001, it has definitely been a rough time going from the start. I really wish someone would do something about these idiots who think they will get 7 virgins in heaven for all of this killing. I hate to tell them, Heaven isn't where they are going, and I don't think there are any vigins in Hell either. That just totally blows my mind! And frankly I don't like their way of thinking. It is just Ganghas Kahn mentality, or shall I say stupidity! Total idiots!

Well, the problem is any religion that teaches that their deity wants them to go out and convert the rest of the world. The rest of the world does not want to be converted. And, when they try to convert each other, we are all endangered by their "good intentions".

I remember reading somewhere that during the Gulf War, USA and allies did not want to get rid of Saddam, as it was better the devil you know.... They were happy keeping tabs on him. Not sure how true that is, but one thing is for sure, get rid of one fanatic and they become a martyr, and then a whole new can of worms is opened with new "Saviours" springing up all over the place.

I agree! Excellent! Organized religion has always made me uneasy. That sure does summarize why in a nutshell.
