    Merchant Best Practices Forum
I'd like to suggest a new forum for Merchant Best Practices. Kind of a step above the "Becoming a Merchant" forum. I envision it as a forum where people can write articles about various best practices in different areas, and then affiliates and affiliate managers or OPMs can comment about them. It would be a great resource for intermediate affiliate managers.

...and I wholeheartedly second Michael's excellent suggestion!!

If we do get a forum like this, mods will have to keep in mind we have it and migrate all relevant threads there as they are posted throughout ABW (with the abundance of sub-sections, most people seem to just post everything in the "Midnight Cafe", not bothering about finding a relevant place to post), but it would definitely be worth it, building together a superb educational resource.

    Great idea!

I think it may best fit in the Inner Circle.

When you say "people can write articles" do you mean it would be open to anybody to post articles/suggestions? or would posting these articles be restrictive to merchants or AMs?

Why restrict it to the inner cirlce if you want to be able to educate new affiliate managers? Even if an affiliate manager is a veteran, they may not be one here...

By writing "articles", I just mean that they should be a little more substantive than a normal thread. The writer should pick a well defined topic, give examples, links, and a fairly full coverage of the topic. For example, something like my Couponing Tips for Merchants thread.

Some of what would be posted there currently exists elsewhere on ABW, but this would be a place where more experienced affiliates, OPMs, and affiliate managers could pull it all together, referencing those other threads.

For instance, one best practice might be titled "Never Delete Inactive or Low Performing Affiliates". It could explain why it's a bad idea, link to threads that show the negative reactions from affiliates, explain some of the other problems with deleting affiliates (you never know which ones will become your star performers, inactive affiliates are the best possible group to recruit from, etc.), and give alternate solutions to some of the normal reasons that merchants use when they decide to delete affiliates. This is all out there on ABW, but you would have to know to look for it, and it could take a while to find all the different aspects of it.

I think it is a great idea Michael! I think both merchants (especially new AMs) and affiliates would benefit from such a forum. I would contribute to it

I think it is a great idea, and I would be interested to read more articles like that one and the conversations that would follow.

Excellent idea - it could be a sub-section of Becoming a Merchant possibly. I agree with Loxly however - restricting it to inner circle means new merchants and new AM's (new to ABW anyhow) wouldn't be able to view it, and then the concept is lost.

    Happy Holidays everyone!
