December 18th, 2006, 12:46 PM #1A quick holiday reminder
So... we're all busy right?
Keep your head on your shoulders though.
My mom took her eyes off the stove while making cookies this morning, and darn near burnt the house down. Substantial damage to the kitchen and dining room, but, no injuries and the house is still livable thanks to quick response from the local volunteer fire department.
I live about an hour away, and will go out and survey the damage myself in a bit.
So just because your busy, don't forget to pay attention to what matters, on many levels...

Glad your Mom's ok!
Definitely a good message to get out there.
I know with two kids just jacked up right now and bouncing around the house, it's easy to be distracted.
Hope things get fixed up quickly and easily for her.================================================================
Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

Sorry to hear about this but glad everyone is ok. Volunteer firefighters don't get enough credit. It's a tough job, spent 6 years as a firefighter/paramedic and it was a lot of work, but was very rewarding.

Another thing to remember: Don't turn your wall swich power on when your bar heater is facing down and leave the room! I've done this coming back to my room expecting a nice warm room, well it was warm but smoking too!

oooh yeap be careful. Agree it must've really been upsetting for your Mom but glad she's ok
Agree completely with Greg. Dated one when I was a teen and ummm quite a few dates started late or ended early. They definitely don't get enough credit.
Turn into Betty Crocker in a few days and will definitely pay attention.
December 18th, 2006, 11:45 PM #10So there's another 10 years of Irish Catholic guilt for you. I'm 34, and I can't escape

You should catch them fresh out of Catholic high school, they are in their experimental stage.
Seriously, glad mom is ok.

So, would the moral of the story be: even though we all work with cookies everyday, we shouldn't take our eyes off of them because they can burn you?
Wa Waa Waaa Waaaaaaaa.
Seriously, I'm glad to hear that everyone is OK and hopefully, this won't ruin the holidays.
