December 21st, 2006, 11:29 PM #1YOU are Time's Person of the Year! i.e. Marketing Opportunity ALERT!
That's right. In Time Magazine's December 25th edition, they're naming YOU as the Person of the Year!
What Time is referring to is "Web 2.0" and the social networking phenomenon that has occurred this year:
It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It's about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people's network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It's about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.
I particularly like this encouraging quote:
We're looking at an explosion of productivity and innovation, and it's just getting started, as millions of minds that would otherwise have drowned in obscurity get backhauled into the global intellectual economy.
PS: So what are you doing to ride this wave - this buzz moment - next week?
It's a great story to spin to your benefit. Connect yourself with a major press event. Tell all your visitors that they are Time's Person of the Year!

HEY! I searched for "person of the year" and no postings came up in the search. Sheesh! Haiko??
Thought that was REALLY weird that no one was talking about this!

pretty funny just watched.. easy to make fun of it..
Time Mag is pretty much a joke, but i do like the idea of the article. the social aspect of the web allows broader distribution of ideas and info, rather then a few biased sources controlling what the masses see, hear and read.
The first comment on that YouTube page: "CNN, Fox News, and the Networks can all die in a fire." We can only hope
