Hi,

Thought I'd ask some of your more experienced affiliates what your experience with Catalog City has been like.

I just checked my CJ stats and every Catalog City sale I made in August has been extended. Is this normal? I saw my first sales with CC in August, and this is the first time I've ever had a sale 'extended'.

    TIA!

I'll just say i was thinking of putting catalog city links up before i found this board. I've heard they're nothing but bad news.

I have good luck with them.

    What does TIA mean?

    TIA = Thanks In Advance.

At least I hope that's what it means; otherwise I may have to go back and change some posts

Thanks all! It sounds as if people have had very varied experiences with CC. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Yes, TIA stands for 'thanks in advance'. I once received an email response addressed me as, "Dear Tia." Boy was it embarrassing to have to explain to the guy that my name wasn't Tia.

Catalog City started regularly extending eveything sometime earlier this year -- when I spoke with them about it, they talked about their "business model" and how you don't get paid until they get paid.

Or that was the best I could understand it.

I guess CC has things for and against:

For - it's got a huge product range with product links to most things and it fits in well with the other CJ merchants.

Against - commission is lower than dealing with the merchants directly. Sometimes they'll break all the product links. Transactions get extended.

If you're not likely to be doing much volume on sales and you're looking for products to fill up a virtual store they seem OK.

dynamoo.com - geeky stuff for umm geeks.

I've had problems with broken product links on CC. I don't enjoy monitoring their links to make sure they're working from one week to the next. It seems very unprofessional of them (or maybe they're just very disorganized or understaffed).

But the reality is that they have links to products that I can't find anywhere else on CJ, and I don't have the time to establish a business relationship with the individual vendors. The good news is that I do make sales with them.

But you know, a sale isn't a sale until the check clears the bank, right?
