Some have criteria that automatically declines applicants based on information in your profile like type of sites or location (if you are outside the US), and you need to contact the Affiliate Managers for those and see if you can fit into their marketing plans.

As a CJ merchant. Just write us an e-mail and we will respond to you with the reason. If you do not get a response, then do you really want to promote their site?

Yeah, just because you have a website does not mean that you will be approved. I think it is a big misconception that newcomers have. There can be many reasons such as location, site design, content, etc. It's there choice. As the PP said, I would try contacting them.

BTW- Some merchants leave publishers "pending" for a long, long, long time

Merchants have the ultimate right on who to they authorize to be their affiliate. They usually base this on your demography among other criteria. For example, they think that it is no point to give affiliation to somebody based in Tonga whereas the merchant cater to a US only business. Its their prerogative.

Affiliate Managers who have there program setup like this are not worth the effort in promoting. There are tons of affiliates including myself who don't want to live in the USA but we host & target the USA with our websites. It's a pain in the a to have to write letters to them asking for permission to make them money.
