I know you have quality Jewelry on your site. Have you thought of selling any body jewelry at all? You might be surprised that it will sell. What would be nice is to see some diamond studs or belly button rings in the $40.00 - $100.00 range. Just a thought.

our MD would possibly throw a cog if we suggested that to him.... I know there's a market for it and the return rate of customers would be high as body jewelry fashions change... best we can offer right now is earrings..... but okay i'll bring it up with Merchandisihing and see if we can start with a tasteful range of Belly Rings .... "Design your own Diamonds Belly Ring"
BUT we are working with a partner on another site to do a wide range of body jewelry ...give me 2-4 weeks and he'll be live. He'll be tasking us with running his Affiliate program.

Lol, tell him to get with the times. Hell, I'm almost talked into an earring by my kids.
That would be a good idea. "Design your own" I'll be looking forward to seeing what you can come up with and thanks for the fast reply.

Our MD is...well.... "straight as they come", I have never even heard him swear, ever not once, not even to say "damn".
But he is a business man...
And at those prices he might start out...we work down from there... but to be honest it's a shot in the dark...and it's very dark.

I was really brave getting mine done. I mean really brave. I had it done in a gay S&M shop in the French Quarter. They were the only place open on a Saturday afternoon that was actually sanitary.
But I'm a total chicken about changing it out. I get weak in the knees even thinking about it. Still haven't changed it and that was years ago. Guess I'll stick with the one I got. Don't think I'd spend $7500 on a belly ring anyway.

FYI - I often check the search strings in my visitor logs and find that the bulk of those who are looking for body jewelry are specifically looking for GOLD and/or DIAMOND.
The customers are there; we need the product.
Yes, get with the times. I recently sold two toe rings to a very old woman (my guess is that she was nearly 90 ~ she had to use a walker)

I have tons of cheap body jewelry for my Pagan and Wiccan site. I am all set up to add pages for up scale body jewelry. I would give you a try even though you are with dreaded LS.
Here's what I need.
Gold and Diamond
Belly Button and Navel Rings
Nipple Shields and Bars
Also gold and diamond
AMULETS AND TALISMANS....ALL KINDS!
Sun moon stars
Pentagram (Will be a big seller!)
Tree of Life
Tell your boss to get on with it. No one that I know of is doing this in up scale, gift quality jewelry.
Any questions, e-mail me.

My aversion to having my body parts pierced is not a reflection of the times just my own weakness, hey, I had to have a valium to have my ears pierced!
Upscale body jewelry is a great idea, there is definitely a market.

Print out this thread and show it to your merchandising department.
Hey, we are the people on the front lines who have to sell the merchandise. Give us what we want.
Keep some prices in each category under $100. After that the sky is the limit.

I don't have any piercings (once had one ear pierced, but being stubborn about prefering silver to gold, it infected and closed up. Lesson: next time white gold;0), but I do sell body jewelry.
But I wouldn't sell body jewelry for 5% commish.

Board meeting Tuesday so I'll stick my neck out and see if it comes back with my head on it.
webmistress Body Jewelry would go in a High Commission Band
If Mondera say no, as I said above we'll have another partner site running in 2-4 weeks who will be able to run an affiliate prog dedicated 100% to Body Jewelry.

Having had a jewelry shop (The 14K shoppe) at Lake Buena Vista at DisneyWorld when they first opened let me add my 2 cents. That marketplace venue exceeds all retail shops for customer exposure. The buying public there still adhered to age old traditions of 14-18K jewelry and gem sales. They don't want to pay retail unless it's a custom made piece. We performed quick turn around custom work, sizing and normal jewelry store services not available online. Like online we sold for cash. Concentrate on setting up normal gifting jewelry at competitive street prices. If your online selection and prices can't match the local store and discount chain prices , without the touch, look and service provided by face to face sales, your whistling dixie on trying to sell $$5-15,000 items on the net. Your main selections for your store should be items like 2 CT tennis bracelets for 599.00 and One CT earrings for the same price.etc etc. Diamond items above 2000.00 need a GIA certification and absolute guarantee on the 3 C's or why trust the merchant hype so previlent online.
Your too near the color stone capitals not to also feature colored gem stones (rubies -Saphires) and items like Opals and even tourmaline or Topaz ring sets. The bridal shops might sell some engagement sets but few will go the above 8-10K amount without financing.

Our biggest sales are on custom engagement rings, all our diamonds have GIA certs. We tried some coloured stones about a year and half back...very low sales. Problem is that coloured stones as I'm sure you know are far more "eye of the beholder" based than diamonds, where a cert says it all.
That said there are some sites doing massive sales in coloured stones, just that we decided after the initial stab to focus on diamonds.

yes thanks got it, very weird I check a bunch last week for another ABW member and they were find, but the ones you sent are crossing over to different products, possibly our feed to LS went wrong over thr weekend, we had a DNS problem which might have meant the database connected to the wrong tables....yea I'm guessing
More details to follow we're checking on them now and I'll send you a second follow up to your email as soon as we know.

Glad to see your program online. Mondera is a wonderfully designed website...top notch. Looks like the affiliate program will be as well.
I really would like to know your opinion on how items like yours sell online. How do you overcome the attitude that jewelry is a big ticket item? Besides a great credibility building design, how else do you make your potential customers feel comfortable enough to buy.
I'm assuming that it's a tough sell. Especially for things like diamonds, etc...
Any thoughts you have are appreciated.
