    Apple Ipod Phone - IPhone
Next big thing from them? I think they're partnering with Cingular. Just officially announced today at the Macworld Expo:

Yep, just watching the live feed from the unveiling:

Too bad they aren't supporting Verizon.

I wonder how this is going to play out as far as the name since Cisco has the TM:

Looks cool, watching some CNN coverage of it. Have been checking around and people are excited about it. Think this will be huge.

Now that's very interesting. I'm kinda wondering why Apple even went with iPhone since it's more like a PDA than a phone.

I was wondering the same thing about the name. I suppose they just went and bought it... Looks pretty slick though.

$499-$599 plus whatever the monthly service is still way out of my price range though. To be honest, it's really just the monthly service that puts me off. I'm willing to pay for the nice hardware... it's the usage cost that kills me.

Apple is really positioning themselves in a whole new market, with iPod and now the iPhone.

They actually just changed their name from Apple Computer, Inc. to just Apple, Inc. to broaden their market[ing].

Looks like a winner to this Treo 650 owner.

Gotta love the stock play +$7.12 today - looks like the street likes it also.

I want one! I'll give 'em a year or so to get the bugs out and the price down a little. I like my treo but this looks like a much better setup.

I dont see people running out to buy a phone based on its looks, for all we know the thing works lousy as a phone. You can bet I will be reading reviews before I even think about it.

After reading the article above I am trying to figure out who is going to pay 299 and get locked into a contract with Cingular no Thanks I have enough problems. Teens cant afford 299 and business people will stay with Balckberry's and Treo's.

Cingular was an interesting partnership choice, but GSM/EDGE is a more global technology than is CDMA (Verizon). They could offer a CDMA in the future perhaps, similar to what Blackberry did (first their own network, which they sold to Cingular, then expanding devices to work on the VZW network.)

Think outside the States, kids. We're a drop in the bucket compared to Asia, Europe, etc...

Teens can't afford 299 but parents can. And there are millions of teens and twenty-somethings walking around with 499 ipods...this is just the next step.

Not cheap, but when these little iPhones make their way to Bangkok, I want one!!!

Will be interesting to see if this product takes Apple to the next level. I hope that the touch screen works properly -- there'll be some testing time in the US before we get them which I guess is good.

wondered when they would eventually release one, well i guess it holds more than my 1 gig mx k800i but having a reasonble camera, good features all round & mobile TV on my phone is more important than mp3s these days. my first mp3 phone - a k700i 2 years ago held 40 megs (enough for about 10 optimized songs), we had to turn them into drm files as SE made it so no one could use the mp3's as ringtones, well a lot has changed in 2 years...

The real kick in the b@lls and dumb as heck move (besides bogarting the TM) is there is no place to pre-order the bloody thing. I mean talk about a 6 month viral buzz people posting daily countdowns till they get them - (treo did this very good with the 650 and 700). What if some co (like sony-ericson p990i see http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...e=pp&pid=10336) high tails it and announces (and takes pre-orders) of a comparable phone in 5 months? It wouldn't be a slam dunk sale then, would it?

PS. I seriously think Cingular sold out their blackjack (great phone BTW)

I don't quite understand Apple's logic in this legal issue. Even if the products weren't directly competing, TM is a TM and nothing can change the entitlement of its owner... Of course, the two can settle but I guess Cisco would want couple of more bobs than some recording company when Apple bought out "iPod".
