    Is FastNext Down?
    Geno,

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask this, I have 2 of the free FastNext sites that you have been giving away to ABWers and they are both down this morning. Any idea what's up? (er... rather down?)

Mine is down too. On Jan 2 my main host had all my sites down. Looks like they all take turns having trouble.

Just checked and mine's down, too. Have either of you contacted them at their site or is it down, too? I did just check my cpanel and saw some red and yellow blinking lights so submitted a ticket to them with that information. (I don't have a clue what they mean.... but I'm sure they do. Hopefully it'll get resolved soon.

FastNext's website is operative. I'd suggest to contact their support team, as purplebear has already done. Note that they've also got live chat.

Sorry, the server was under DDOS attack.
We had to block some networks the attack was originated from.

The server is up and is ok when talking about load:

    root@mu [~]# w
    17:41:25 up 45 days, 5:17, 6 users, load average: 1.67, 1.67, 1.81
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
    root pts/0 80.91.180.174 14:23 3:06m 0.02s 0.02s -bash
    root pts/1 80.91.180.174 15:08 2:31m 0.03s 0.03s -bash

In case you have problems accessing the site chances that you are on the network having infected computer attacking our server and that network is blocked at our firewall. It DOES NOT mean that your computer is infected. The other customer of your ISP may be infected.

So, in case you have problems accessing the site please open a trouble ticket to our support and they will see whether they can open your ip on firewall.

We'll be releasing blocks as soon as attack will be over.

    Thank you for your patience.

My sites are back up now. I should have been more patient, but the fact that they are free sites just kind of worried me that they had been removed. With a paid site I wouldn't have woried as much.

On the other hand, have any of you other folks been having holes in your CPanel stats? In December the stats were never updated after the 24th and this month they haven't up dated since the 4th.

A DDOS attack, huh?! That s@cks!

In case you have any problems - the best way to have them resolved ia contact support by submitting a trouble ticket.

It may happen that some of your web site logs are corrupt or too big to be processed. Please submit a ticket and support will help you with this.

Patrick, he is not a native-speaker of English, and in many languages there is no difference between "the server" and "a server" ("sever" without any articles is used instead). "A server" was what was meant by Serge.

Glad everything is working now. But he is right. Their support team is the one to address to get issues resolved quicker.

Thank you, man. You wouldn't believe how timely your post is. I am flying two planes in just 5 hours (Chisinau, Moldova - Moscow, Russia - St. Petersburg, Russia); and that is only to pick up the girls (my wife Lena and my daughter Anastasia) in St. Petersburg and fly out to London a day later (on 14 January). 5 days from that date I'm off to Vegas. See you there and thank you for your timely thoughts of my flights.

No, but it can be only one server that's affected. I've had that happen briefly one time, some sites were affected because of being on one server, while other of my sites weren't - the ones on another server.

Sorry Geno, but it wasn't really evident or overly clear from that post - so it's just as well that it was clarified further, downstream. It's evident to those of us who know, but possibly not all that clear to others.

Yes, there is more than one server - and some of the support staff are also not native English speakers, either. So while one of the things I like a lot from the support people is that when there's any kind of an issue, they explain what happened or the reason very candidly and very clearly - which is unusual from a hosting company (most others either deny there was a problem or issue or just shine you on) - and is very much appreciated, sometimes the sentence structure does kind of bring a smile to my face.

So.... does that mean there is no truth to the rumor that FastNext's servers consist entirely on a Blackberry carried around by the CEO?

On second thought, maybe that rumor was about CJ.

No truth to that rumor. It's all on a Flash drive in Serge's wife's sewing room.
