    Thumbs down SFMusicbox.com = SPAMMER
So, I posted a while back about a company that contacted me telling me their program is great for my web site. I guess I should put music boxes side by side with underwear and footwear...what a match!!
I opted out, they continue to SPAM me. What a piece of garbage!
One more and it will get ugly!

such a deal . . . I wonder if they are using a service to spam us with or they put an intern on the project.

if they had the sense to open some dialogue they'd get more results. as it is, they're not even looking at the domains of the emails they are sending.

    Unhappy Sorry You Were Spammed...
    Uncle Scooter,

I am sorry you were spammed by SFMusicBox or Calendars...please know this is not our intention and we work hard to remove all affiliates who request that we not send them recruitment emails as well as provide an opt-out.

Please send me your email address and I will make sure you are taken off every list for SF and Calendars. You can send your email to: affiliate@sfrecruiting.com

I am truly sorry you received our emails in error.

    Warm Regards,
    Sarah Jones

    Continued...
    UncleScooter,

After reviewing your signature, I am sure you were recruited because of the Cooperative Affiliates webpage and the line that says "contact us if your program is in-house or elsewhere".

This, by no means, is a reason for you to receive emails if you do not want them, however, I am sure our recruitment team reviewed your site in hope of working with you.

Again, please accept my apologies for our emails and invites.

    Warm Regards,
    Sarah Jones

They used to have zero return days when they were at LS. I haven't checked in with the program in a while because of that.

I judge your recruiters' focus from the email address they use for contact. In my case they were just fudging; definitely no match there. I did have a site that was a perfect match and mentioned it when I answered the recruiting email, but never heard any more.

Thank you Sarah. I will take another look at your program. I have a site that your products would work well on.

I have a great relationship with calendars.com and sell many calendars (and other products) for them. They refered the music box people to me, we emailed back and forth for a while, but I didn't join. They have never spammed me in anyway. I have found the people from calendars.com to be highly professional

She's been spamming me for years. Filed a BBB complaint to get it to stop - still get spammed.

I finally joined and the spam stopped.

I never put up a link - but at least she stopped spamming me to join.

    Sarah,
Thanks for the reply. Those emails were not sent to the Cooperative Affiliates address. They were sent to another address that has nothing to do with CA.

Equally as bad as spamming your program is sending that fake email that says, "We have reviewed your site and we think our products are a great fit..." blah blah blah when it is painfully obvious that the sender has seen none of the sites I use to generate affiliate income.

I get real recruiting email most every day, as do the others here. I welcome these emails as they represent growth. The difference here is that the reply to address on the ones I got from you was not a valid email and uses a domain that has no content on it as it has obviously been set up only to shove emails through. I try the unsubscribe feature and it either does not work or my request was ignored.

These are not legitimate recruiting emails you are sending. I ask you to take a moment to think about what your potential affiliate wants in a recruiting email and what turns us completely off. Canned, mass email using broad generalities that are supposed to make us think you are really talking to us individually will fall in the "turn offs" column most every time. You might slip a few in on the newbies. Is it worth it? I find new merchants one at a time by looking, comparing, testing and analyzing their site. Perhaps you should take a similar approach with affiliates, work on building some relationships as opposed to the shotgun approach.

Thanks again for your reply and best of luck to you.

    Billy, Arghhh....
    You sold your soul.
    (can't beat them, join them...)

I think the only way to stop the spam is file a small claims court lawsuit. One of my old jobs, we got a spam lawsuit from an double opt in list. That got the whole company's attention and evaluate things..

Sarah, you guys might want to evaluate on the way you generate the email list. I think your legal team will get pissed...

Don't know how long ago you got the "We LOOKED at your site" email... but they ADMIT to sending AUTOMATED follow up emails too - so expect more

In case you missed that, they have automated follow up spam to the original spam!!!

Oh yes it was so long ago I had forgotten. As I remember they didn't have many products in my niche but there was a few. I told them I didn't know if I could sell them, but if I tried, it would take me time and effort from doing other things on something I didn't know would sell. I told her, they would have to gaurantee me some money just for trying regardless of the sales. They said they don't do that, haven't heard from the people at SF Music Box again. Maybe that is why they haven't asked me to join again.

It is pretty much my standard line when any merchant contacts me. If I thought I could sell their stuff I would join their program long before they knew I existed. But if they are coming to me, I want them to gaurantee me some money incase it doesn't work. I will use my best effort but they haven't put up anything. For the scales to be balanced, they have to say, ok, if I can't sell anything after 3 month or 6 months whatever, they have to give me $50 or whatever just for trying.

As stated, I filed BBB complaints to get Sarah Jones to stop spamming me - to no avail - so I joined (indie program) and opted out of emails

Then they had their advertising agency start sending the please join spam - someone named Theresa A. Hartwig Duerr at pozesky marketing. Just last month she said SFMB is no longer recruiting online affiliates

Ooops! Got more San Francisco Music Box spam today

Now they joined Performics, and of course the fine print says Performics can send us SF Music Box spam unless we opt out of all Performics emails. So once again, I had to join - and opt out of receiving emails to stop getting San Francisco Music Box spam - aargh

I currently belong to (FORCED to join) TWO SFMB programs, and will never put a link up for them.

There's something very wrong with this company if they force you to join in order to stop receiving San Francisco Music Box spam!!!!

one more time for google's benefit: San Francisco Music Box spam. I've been asking for YEARS to stop contact me.

    False SFMusicBox Information
    Billy,

I am sorry you feel that Performics is now spamming you. As we told you, we did not request Performics to send out an email on our behalf, nor did we pay for this email...therefore it is not from us. If you would like, I can have someone at Performics confirm this. Performics is promoting our program because it is the holiday season and our affiliates are earning a lot of money with us. If you so choose, you can opt out of Performics emails.

I do not feel that SFMusicBox nor Performics is "worse than those viagra spammers" as you said in your email.

I cannot stop Performics from trying to get more affiliates for our program. Since we are doing really well, they are making money and my guess is that they want to make more money by finding additional, quality publishers.

    Warm Regards,
    The SFMusicBox.com Affiliate Marketing Team

    Wow, that's pretty amazing.

You have a contractual relationship with these folks, but they can do whatever they want, without any consequences from their clients? You must have some pretty lousy attorneys.

Is their merchant customer service really that dreadful?

It sure doesn't sound like the move from Kowabunga to CJ & Performics has improved your situation very much. I'm now pretty glad that Performics discouraged me from continuing my relationship with calendars.com, despite the loss of about $10,000 in commissions this season.
