January 22nd, 2007, 01:25 PM #1Affiliate Defined Sub-Tracking - How to?
Am I missing a way to see deeper than the "Last Page Clicked" URL in "Todays Stats"? It would be nice to see more than the "Last Page" for PPC sent direct to the merchant. I would like to be able to see the search string used by the visitor.

It won't get you the search string, but it'll get you a step closer to useful info.
If you have a lot, the concatenate function in excel can help appending variables to large numbers of URLs. We have distinct IDs for over 30k words on our affiliate stuff...

As I mentioned, I am trying direct to merchant and there is no trail in my server logs or Google Analytics. Where would I view the results?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear.
At the end of Shareasale affiliate links there is a variable called afftrack (&afftrack=). If you put "keword1" for example, so the URL ends "&afftrack=keyword1" and someone clicks the link to the merchant, "keyword1" will appear in your Shareasale stats under "Affiliate Defined Sub-Tracking:".
So, to track individual keywords, you'd append a different variable to the merchant URL for each keyword, and that variable would show up in Shareasale with each sale referred by that word.
It's a pain to do for every single word, but you'll be able to tell exactly which words are generating the sales. Unfortunately, because a lot of the engines use broad match, you won't be able to tell exactly what the user typed, but at least you'll know the broad match was related to keyword1, 2, 3, etc.
Hope this helps.

I have noticed the &afftrack= in the URLs but for the life of me I can't spot the link to "Affiliate Defined Sub-Tracking". Maybe that doesn't show up till you use the feature.
I really would like that search string to help find negatives for broad or phrase match.

It shows up in the middle column and at right for each order on both the activity details page and on the order details page (click "View" under # of sales on today's stats).
