I'm very interested in finding out how Myspace and Youtube may of affect online advertising? For example, guy named Matt has gone places around the world and do this wacky but entertaining dance. Matt is sponsored by this bubble gum company. Is this a new trend?

This is definitely a great way to gain more content on the YouTube site. New and current users will be inclined to create/upload more content if they are getting paid for it. I am just curious as to what are the requirements they will have in order for the user to get paid.

Hmm, will have to see how this plays out. I can see both positive and negatives. When you introduce payment, people are going to start doing more things to push their videos up (spam) It already happens but I can see a flood coming. And then how will the long time users of YouTube like that? Who knows, time will tell.

Wonder if that will mean that it will be the end of embeding videos from YouTube in our blogs...

How so? I would think they would want more of it. Like Chet pointed out before, a lot of those YouTube videos that get embedded on sites are draped with Adsense all around it, one of the reasons it was a good purchase for Google. Just more money.

But how would the maker of the video be comped for a transaction that doesn't happen on the YouTube domain? Would the Big G be able to tell what video was playing on my blog when one of my visitors clicks an ad?

I'm not sure how they're going to go about that yet:

"Hurley gave no details of how much users would be paid, or what mechanism would be used."

They could pay on impressions/views. So the more sites the videos are embedded on, the more impressions/views. Who knows, will have to wait on further details.

I'm not sure how this ties in with getting paid by YouTube, but it does show the influence and potential earning power of YouTube :
