    Google search engine indexing?
So I'v been gone for a while, are site maps still important in google indexing? and what about robots.txt? is this important at all? should I have code or any code in robots.txt or does it matter? Anyway is google indexing any different then 1-2 years ago? and has there been any new changes I should be focusing on? Thanks

Just get those solid incoming links, that's still most important.

As for site maps, it'll help get your site indexed in a smoother way b/c the bots have a clear cut map to all of your documents (some people argue against its usefuless). Robots.txt isn't needed whatsoever if you don't need to give the bots any special instructions. I've yet to have to use it but once or twice on private pages. Otherwise, I completely ignore it and it does no harm.

In regards to your last, Snib is right. Write good content, and you won't need to chase the algorithms (sometimes harder said than done)..

    Cool
a simple robots.txt can't hurt, but remember that the original function is to keep the 'bots out of certain areas of your site.

I think keeping your sitemaps up to date is important if you are going to use them. This means regular visits to that section of google to let them know of the changes.
