    Windows Vista Officially Launches Tuesday
So is anybody picking it up? And does anybody who's already worked with it know the major differences between Home Basic and Home Premium? I've read the differences on the site, just wanted to know if there is anything else I should know about them. I want to get a new computer, trying to figure out which one to get. And for the Apple and Mac lovers out there, I don't want an Apple or a Mac

It actually launches today at 3:30 EST.

What is is the difference between Home basic and Home Premium?

Home Premium has all the eye candy sidebar etc and requires 1GB of ram because of it.

Home Basic lacks everything mentioned above and only needs 512MB of ram.

If you get a new computer try to get 1.5GB of memory and highr, 300 GB of storage or more, a dual core (AMD x2 or Cor 2 duos from Intel) processor although not required. A DX10 video card to take advantage of the gaming enhancements inside of Vista. Spend a little bit more and put premium on it.

This one doesn't look bad for the price $544 - $579.99:

Premium, Dual core/64-bit processing, 250 GB, 1 GB or memory (can go up to 2)

I have an old one, only 40GB hard drive, only using 30 of it.

If you are going to go with a Dual Core don't get an Intel Dual core you're better off with an AMD dual core and save some money as they perform the same, unless its an Intel Core 2 Duo dual core processor. Then by all means get the intel chip.
