How in the world, or why in the world would Porsche make an SUV? Geez ... I think this is along the lines of some of the marketing geniuses we've seen (affordable foot)

    http://www.porschecayenne.com

What am I missing here? I have an SUV and a baby seat in the back .... darn it I want a porsche engine and do 0-60 in 3.4 secs! WT? Unfortunately over 110,000 have expressed an interest in the $55,900 - $88,900 (turbo) SUV in two weeks of marketing

Is it just me ... or is this totally weird?

Porche 911 -- now there's an unfortunate name.

    It's totally weird.

Porche goes after the soccer moms --who'd a thunk?

Most manufacturers SUV's were modified versions of their truck lines. Did Porshe have a truck line?

I just brought an Izusu Rodeo ... My Affiliate sales havent justified a Porshe SUV ..Yet

I think a lot of the richer soccer moms have been searching for that extra status symbol that they really haven't been able to achieve with their Ford Explorer (or even Cadillac Escalade). They need something that not only says that they have a family, but that they are richer than you. I guess it's not a bad price compared to the rest of the SUV market, considering it is a Porsche. I'm sure they'll sell well, with their main market being status-seeking soccer moms. They probably won't do so well in the drug-dealing status-seeker market, which I believe is loyal to the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali (heavily modified, of course). I just don't see the potential with the Porsche to be modified in a way that the young market likes. Maybe some ground effects, lowered suspension, and bigger chrome wheels, but it still won't look as good to them as a slammed Escalade.

A porsche SUV? Isn't that a contradiction in terms? Isn't that like trying to breed a race horse with a pack mule?

    Ron,

A porsche SUV is an oxymoron!

    -----------

    ubberoth,

Saw a report in a newspaper about it and was shocked! The new hummers (2003) start at $40K ... I love cars, I knew the CEO and owned stock in Vector (sample)

If it doesn't have a 911 emblem on it ..it's not a porsche.

I drive a Kansas Cadillac (chevy pick-up). The new Hummer is a little mainstream, I like the one that is to wide to park in one space, But the favorite is the pre-chrysler Lamborghini.(heck anything Italian).

Heck, if the purpose of a Porsche SUV is to raise the field of vision by a couple feet, just add a periscope to the 911 & call it a day!

And cute name, eh? Porsche Cayenne? Be on the lookout for Ferarri Tabasco!

Ok, is it just me or does the Porche SUV look a lot like my 2003 Pontiac Vibe?

I had a suburban (old one) that I loved and used to joke with my hubby that when I got rich I was going to have a Lincoln Surburban.

Then sure enough a few years later they made one.

But in reality, no way am I buying a car that costs more than I paid for my house - lol.

Dynamoo's rule of thumb is that you shouldn't buy a car more expensive than the place you live.. and you shouldn't buy a TV more expensive than your car.
