Punxsutawney, PA Weather Forecast - 2/2
Doesn't look good for Punxsutawney Phil to see his shadow on Groundhog Day.

    http://www.weather.com/outlook/healt...A1335?dayNum=1

On February 2, a sleepy marmot will emerge from a stump to a chorus of cheers and some measure of trepidation. The crowd will wait breathlessly for news of an early spring, just as they've done for the past 120 years. The seer will confer with his human friends and impart the wisdom he's known for the world over. Finally, furrily, Punxsutawney Phil will deliver his proclamation, and the residents of the Northern Hemisphere will know their snowy fate.

I wouldn't even begin to have a clue how to market Groundhog Day stuff. Who buys it? Groundhog collectors? Roadkill epicures? What?!?

I don't know. If you sell clothing of any kind maybe your visitors would appreciate the humor of a:

Punxsutawney Phil says its still more weeks of winter - get your winter gear here!

Or the opposite and start selling Spring fashions.

Maybe people with outdoor gear, gardening, etc. could play it up.

I know you weren't really serious, but I think it would be sort of clever.

I wasn't serious but it is an interesting exercise to see how creative you can be. So far I think a few really good ideas have been thrown out there but would anyone invest the time to pursue them? I'd be interested to know if there truly is a market for Groundhog Day stuff. Sorta. You know what I mean.

Marmots are cute though. When I lived in CT and commuted on a rural highway it was always big fun in the summer to watch them grazing by the side of the road when I got stuck in a traffic jam. *yawn* I just can't get worked up about groundhogs. lol!

but if the artwork is cute enough, even given the short season, someone will buy it.

We are looking at 20 below wind chills here tonight. I'm not very optimistic about Spring either.

    Well, he said early spring...

Who's the gardening affiliate that is going to capitalize on that.

Or maybe if you sell flip-flops or sunglasses.

On a side note, sometimes my husband and I call my cat Punxsutawney Phil because she is a big fat cat and if you pick her up just right she kind of looks like him. Or at least the version of him on the movie Groundhog Day. Sorry, I know its stupid, but it makes me laugh.

We also call her Puss in Boots because sometimes we catch her in the exact same position as Puss in Boots in the credits of Shrek 2.

OK, so maybe I need to find something else to entertain me besides my cat.

38 and overcast in upstate New York. Feels like Spring!

I forgot to mention that we have groundhogs that live on our property. One has a burrow in the ridge behind our house and there is another burrow under our deck. They're so cute and fat.

Ha! bet you're seeing a little snow by now . . . Gail sez you're a brat for getting so little there. We've been pounded for a few hours now with accidents all over the place. I can't see my shadow. Going back down the hole now.

Herb, weather forecast says two inches of snow. This will be the first time this winter the ground will be entirely covered. How much are you supposed to get?

    Hi Gail!

Damn. I forgot to buy pretzels for Sunday's game.

forecast for today and tonight is only 1 to 4 inches accumulation but we are right at 32 degrees and the roads got slippery fast about two hours ago.

sounds quieter now but it is a Winter Wonderland outside.

lake effect north of us tomorrow.
