    Home Marketplace/Walter Drake ... GRRRRRR
Anybody else notice that product links to these two merchants are landing on a 404 ERROR page?

I thought maybe it was just one or two products, but when I checked my code against the code at CJ, it was identical. I finally had to figure out the new URLs and escapes to get the links to land on the correct pages.

I checked my email, and found absolutely no notifications that they were once again redesigning these sites. Nor do they seem to have bothered to correct the links at CJ.

Home Marketplace has been like this since DECEMBER 14, Walter Drake only this week.
This is due to new site designs (11 days before Christmas?). All CJ product links in Get Links for therse merchants go to the same error page, and Performics Build-Your-Own Links sections for them are disabled
After several emails to their AM, I received this response yesterday:

"I am very sorry about the inconvenious this has cost you. By the end
of this week or at the latest early next week we will have all of the
product links updated. I will send out a note as soon as this is
    complete."

They have done this at least three times in the past couple of years. Every time this happens with them I say I won't replace their links, but they have great products that sell real well, and a great commission rate.

I may be done with them this time.

This has been a problem, on and off, for quite some time. Do a search on the two merchants and you'll find quite a lot of grumbling.

It just gets better. Now, when you click on a bad link, you no longer get a 404 error page. Well, that's good because before they were probably losing a lot of business with no links to the main site on the page and I won't earn any commissions either. However, their message says,

"An unexpected error has occurred. We appologize for any inconvenience. Please check back shortly. You can also call 1-888-994-8697 to place your order."

I cleaned up all my links yesterday with search and replace. This error comes up on an item that has been discontinued and no longer carried. So, the customer will never find it. I guess I won't complain too much, since if they call the toll-free number all they will be told is the item is no longer carried.

If you complain to them (Home Market Place) about this they will feign surprise and claim either it does not happen or they don't know what is wrong. For them this is the same old story, different day.

My links still go to the same 404 error page.

When I work with a merchant I sign up for their consumer newsletter if they have one. I don't work with Walter Drake anymore but I just received their newsletter via email and apparently the site defaults to:

    http://www.wdrake.com/walterdrake/Default.aspx

They wrote in the newsletter that they "have a new web site." (Whatever that means.)

Yesterday, I received an email from the Homemarketplace, showing off new coupons, banners, and asking:
Let us know if you have any ideas or special requests!

I just made the links myself. For Walter Drake, take an old product link and change the part at "&url=" or "?url=" to this:

    url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wdrake.com%2Fwalterdrake%2FShopping%2FProductDetail.aspx%3FProductID%3D999999

Replace the 999999 at the end with the Product ID of the item you want to link to.

For Home Marketplace, the code is this:

    url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thehomemarketplace.com%2Fhomemarketplace%2FShopping%2FProductDetail.aspx%3FProductID%3D999999

There are no spaces, even though one is showing up in each of the strings above.

    Tracy,

    THANK YOU

For anyone else who is going to use, this, for graphics, you also have to update the image source url - get that from the HM or WDrake websites for each product.

    You're welcome.

If the software you use has a Global Search and Replace feature, it works great with this. I was able to replace all my links within minutes once I figured out all the escapes for the url.

the link works, but when trying to add the product to the cart I'm getting plenty of server errors :

Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

or simply page cannnot be displayed...

does it happen to you to?

Everything is working fine for Home Marketplace on the one site that I have updated. I have not updated links for Walter Drake yet.

I just checked links for both WD and HMP, and did not get the error. Items added to the shopping cart without problem.

For what it's worth, HM and WD finally both have working product links available in the CJ get links interface.
