    Subid Report
    Hello,

I'm trying to see the subid reports in my Linkshare account but really can't find any instructions or a link to do it in the "Run Reports" section

Can you help me please perhaps?!

    Thanks,

    Arie

I may be wrong, but I think the eliminated the SubID tracking and replaced it with something else that you actually have to sign up for. For some reason there are still Linkshare links that hav the "subid=" in the link code.

Perhaps someone else here knows more about the current system they have in place and can provide more information.

As I understand, Linkshare is in the process of phasing out the subid feature. It still appears in all links because no-one in the programming department knows how to remove it. If you want to track sales to a given page, you need to use the signature program.

    I'm getting confused

I didn't ask you to provide me with a link to read a book, just briefly - how do I view the SubIds? Is it so complicated?

You can't, they're no longer available. They removed subid reporting awhile back.

So there's no way at all to track Subids?

No. You have to either use signature tracking (link above) or use channels.

How do I do signature tracking? I tried to take a look at this link but I didn't get it - I don't see any instructions to put this "u1" thing on my screen

I believe there is information at LinkShare in their help section. It's not an easy thing for newbies to set up and I expect rarely used. It is an example of how LS tried to improve things by removing something easy that had been working for years.

Well, I don't care if it's a subid thing or signature thing, I neither don't see any difficulty to set up a thing like that - I just don't see at LS Panel any thing related to this signature thing besides what shown on the link above, but this isn't enough

I wish someone could just post instructions like

    1) do this
    2) do that
    3) that's all

I really don't think it should be that difficult, it's just a small script, why bring all the mess around?

There are instructions. Login into Linkshare. Click the Help button at the top. You'll get a pop up. Scroll to the bottom and click

Signature • The Who, What, When, Where, Why and How's of the Member ID Field

And that should answer any questions you might have.

Thanks, I got it finally, it's very easy, I don't understand why there are so many complaints in the other posts...

    And by the way,
If I were you and someone was asking me the same question I would just tell him the following:

You can't use signatures (I call it subids, it's really the same) - unless you join this program and in order to do so you need to do the following:

    1) You download the Signature Request Form here:

    http://www.linkshare.com/rc/signaturerequest.doc

    2) You send it to

    signature@linkshare.com

And wait to get approved, bug LS by phone if you want to

    3) Once you're approved you put the signature/subid here:

A LinkShare Merchant link that has been properly appended with the Member ID identifier may look like this:
    <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=/FYI6fQ9PWs&offerid=7097.10000015&type=3&subid=0&u1=Bob123" >LinkShare Referral Program</a><IMG border=0 width=1 height=1 src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=/FYI6fQ9PWs&bids=7097.10000015&type=3&subid=0" >

In this case, Bob123 is the subid

I should point out one significant limitation of Signature that SubID reporting didn't have. Signature data is only kept by LinkShare for one year. If you try to do reporting older than that, the u1/Signature information will not be available.

As we approach the anniversary of Sub Id's death this month, perhaps it is appropriate for me to repost this:

    OBITUARY NOTICE:

Sub Id, a long time employee of the LinkShare Corporation, died in his sleep last night. Initial reports of a suicide are unfounded. Many think the death was from suspicious causes as Sub Id was young and healthy with no known illnesses or diseases. An investigation in to the cause of death has not yet been announced.

Sub Id was a tireless worker and will be much loved by those who worked with him every day. Sub Id was known around the world as a keeper of information and would share this information freely, day or night, to those he worked with him. A person who worked close to Sub Id, who has asked to remain anonymous, was interviewed and basically said they still can't believe he is gone and can't understand why he left us when he still had so much potential.

LinksShare Corporation has announced that another employee of LinkShare, a fellow going only by the code name of “Signature” will be attempting to fill Sub Id’s shoes in the future. A background check of Signature was unavailable, but word on the streets has it that Signature is not as friendly or easy to access as our beloved Sub Id and that most will find it difficult if not impossible to make the necessary adjustments.

While the world mourns this great loss, there are already rumors spreading that Sub Id still lives. Affiliates (those who will miss him most) are reporting they still see his him when they create web site links at LinkShare Corporation. Many are confused by this, but the administrators at LinkShare Corporation have assured us that these are indeed just “ghosts in the machine” and that Sub Id did indeed pass away last night.

Memorials and gifts can be sent to the Help Save Linkshare Foundation here at ABW.

It's your job to keep your data on your HD / CD / Backup tool etc

For me having this report available for 1 month is definitely more than I need

    And it is,

This line summarizes all the idea of the signature - it's just another name for subid

If you guys don't use scripts on your websites or can't put the u1 thing in the HTML code then don't blame LS - I personally think it's great they have that feature, and the only thing that's bothering me now is when they're going to approve me for this program. I guess I'm gonna call them a few times on Monday (it takes them so much time to pick up the phone, and when I left them a voice mail once, they got back to me after 5 hours when I wasn't in my home, so they left me a voice mail to call them back to the same number where no one picks up the phone - real smart :\)

BTW, if you did a search on subid, you would find a large number of posts on the issue. Everytime I've gone to a new forum and posted a question that has been answered in numerous earlier posts, people end up giving me snippy answers. So, I figure that I might as well do onto others.

    Sure,

But gimme some links with instructions how to put the subid, not with contests where all I see is people crying on a change, coz' all I'm askin is for instructions, not for anything else... and I really don't think it's such a big issue, and if someone wants to explain me why it was such a big mess for him (subid-->signature) - then please post it here
