I was curious as to which company each of you feels is your best affiliate manager in terms of sales commissions (which one brings in the biggest bucks for you, regardless of the merchants you use).

No question, of the guys managing multiple merchants, cj is the best. CJ has the best search function, the best order tracking, the most merchants, the easiest interface, and makes me the most money by far.

Ditto. I'm involved with six different sources (the four majors, and two private). Half of my commissions year to date have been earned through CJ. Second place goes to DoItBest.com (private) with more than 1/3 of the remaining half.

Eeeks, I feel like a Democrat at a Republican convention.

My vote went to other(s), then Linkshare. Cj was the number one in either June or July though so I must give credit where credit is due.

ouch, Tracy, that DoItBest affiliates program sounds kinda tough, though:

------------------
Generally, we'll send your accrued commissions on a quarterly basis.
Amounts under $100 will be held until the total accrual reaches $100 or until December 31. On December 31, amounts under $100 will be deleted and will not be carried forward to the next year. Amounts held do not accrue interest or earnings.
-------------------

Ummmm.....they can't bother to forward unpaid balances into the new year????? That's just wrong!

I'd say that CJ is by far the best network. Some of the best programs however which really convert, and offer top dollar to affiliates, are privately run. If you can find these merchants amidst the maze of privately run programs you are laughing.

Some of the independants annihilate the networks. Smoking out the better independents should be an ongoing project.

Yeah, I know, but it's fun to read the comments. The poll is turning out like I expected.

Frankly, it is what is best that works for each individual, but I think it is interesting when you hear one person say how great they are doing with the underdog.

Whether Network or Independent, anybody (anybody!) who:

A) tracks sales, and

B) pays commissions

is the best.

All other details, such as conversion rates, promotional materials provided, etc. are minor.

Just track sales and pay commissions. That is all that is required.

I still get my best money the old fashioned way...selling space not earning by commission.

I have very targeted traffic so I'm still able to sell ads at a flat rate regardless of clicks/sales/sign ups.

An honest merchant with a trustworthy site design coupled with a sales oriented affiliate manager can make it on any network. Look at some top producers here. The range from Overstock 70% off list products to TigerDirect in the highly competitive computer market to Mondera selling $5-10,000 diamond jewelry. Some sites take cuts off leads and others sell products so various network merchant mixes play a roll in site earnings.

Just because my largest check come from BeFree doesn't mean I can't make the same wiith consolidate checks at CJ. LS has the primo brand merchants, but they overall lack the sales oriented affiliate managers.

Hi elbowcreek,

I've received the same reaction when I've spoken about them before, and posted a long response HERE. (It's about halfway down the page, and discusses the good vs. bad about their program.)

If you actually read their affiliate agreement, you'll find that it's only if your balance is less than $25. Read the post I linked to above and all will be clear. I don't even worry about making $100 per quarter, because I more than exceed it every quarter. They are a good match on my site for one particular item. If you have a site that matches well with them, then it shouldn't be a worry either.

I agree, they probably should rethink that clause. I've found them to be a great earner for me, but I think that clause definitely scares a lot of people away.

Tracy

CJ and a few independents work for me. Nothing beats getting a combined check monthly from CJ.

Actually I'm a bit surprised by the number who voted for "independent". I'd read a few posts in the past where people mentioned indies as their top performancers but didn't think the percentage was that significant!
