Yahoo Directory Is it worth it?
    Hello,

Currently, we have been paying the yearly Yahoo fee of $300 to be indexed. Is it worth paying this or are you better off working on better SEO elements on your own?

    Thanks,

If a site is pulling in a few thousand a month why rock the boat.

On the other hand, can you prove to yourself that this is where the visitors are coming from? (whatever you paid for)

And you may as well look into the SEO aspects of site management. You pay for one, it's not going to change . . . maybe pick up some traffic from another direction also? For free?

and Yahoo sends me traffic that I've never had to pay for.

Well, we have a few different websites. Two of which we pay for the inclusion in Yahoo, while we do not pay for the others. However, all come up about equal in the Yahoo search, which is what may made question the value in it.

Looks to me like if those two sites are coming up in yahoo because of the indexing, then keep it if it pays out more. If you see the traffic is coming from elswhere, ditch it.

A way to test this is to not pay the fee and do not index on one of thes sites for two months or soo and see if traffic still remains high. If it does, you have just saved yourself $300 a year. If traffic drops dramatically and you are not turning up in Yahoo as frequently, then the indexing was working for you. And re-pay the $300 fee.

I'd say give it a go if you can afford to play with one of the sites traffic and earnings for a short while. It's worth at least $600/year in the long run.

I'd say its not worth it. Chances are your site will be found by Yahoo's bots anyway, and directory sites haven't provided quality traffic in years IMO.

I second that. IMO, it's definitely not worth it. Spend the $300 on some articles, press releases, or quality links on related sites.

i would say that it is questionable.

in 1998-2000, Yahoo Inclusion and DMoz rule.
    Right now, google.

How much traffic will it buy you if you spent $300 on google? just do some rough math and you should know if Yahoo is worth it
