    NFL Pro Bowl = Stupid
I have it on but not really watching it. I bet Saint fans got worried for a second. Didn't see exactly what happened but I think Brees got sacked and someone rolled on his leg. So he was limping, also holding his hand. But looks like he'll be ok. Can you imagine losing a Drew Brees or a Peyton Manning or any of your star players in such a meaningless game? Always thought these games were stupid.

I am amazed that anyone plays in it. In a sport where so much can ride on a single play, I would say many pass on it because of the risk of injury.
Notice the NFL is the only major US sport whose "Allstar Game" is after the season, not mid season. My guess is if it was mid season, nobody would play in it, not from contending teams anyway.

Good point guys - and yep if the game was played mid season, I'd imagine you'd see a lot of faces missing.

Football is my favorite major sport, but my least favorite all-star game. (never watch it)

Years ago they used to have game every season where the NFL champs would play a team of college all-stars, which was mildly entertaining.

    Ah, Brees did get hurt:

Brees dislocates non-throwing elbow in Pro Bowl

While the All-Pro quarterback's injury seems unlikely to affect next season, the threat of injury exists in any football game -- even a low-key, halfhearted affair such as the NFL's all-star game.

So he should be alright for next year. Still stupid.

The College All-Star Game was last played in 1976. They decided to end the series after the NfL had won 20 of the preceeding 21 games.

I like watching the pro bowl only to see how bad teams can be. I switched over to Nascar Bud Shootout though when that came on.
