I have written several templates that I use to write new pages. Up until this last weekend, I used three x’s as place holders for keywords with in the copy. It was a simple matter of replacing the x’s with the proper key words.

But I forgot to do a ‘search and replace’ on one of my pages and ended up publishing a page entitled "XXX Party Supplies"

When I started to get a lot of overnight traffic from Africa, Saudi Arabia and the Caribbean, I checked my search words and found my Triple X party page.

    OHGAWD!!! Just what I don’t need !

So… now my template place-holders are spelled QWZX in case I ever forget to replace them again.

    Just a little innocent stupidity.

ROFLMAO ... I guess that traffic wasn't interested in party supplies you had to offer. Sure do hate disappointing site visitors, but in that particular case, I think I would make an exception.

My old boss used to name all of his computer files "xxx", and then rename them later. This little typing habit was innocent enough until he accidently typed into a browser window with his boss in the room...

Wouldn't it make more sense just to add porn products that appeal to customers from Africa, Saudi Arabia and the Caribbean?

    LOL - Love it!

I run a toy content site (well, mostly content, with a healthy dash of affiliate goodies sprinkled in) and am having a heck of a time deciding what to do every time I get more news about new toys from the Vin Diesel movie xXx. (Diecasts from Racing Champions Ertl, mostly. There are action figures on the way, but not until the DVD release.)

I try to be careful about the rest of the page - making sure to not use the words "image" or "picture" on the same page as the movie title, and if the page is something I want to link to in our email newsletter, I just refer to "new Vin Diesel toys."

At least you found the mistake and can have a laugh over it.

It would be interesting to see what links they clicked on.
