Today is Valentines Day, so Google, or should I say GOOGE fancied up their logo for the holiday.

When Google was a Stanford research project, it was nicknamed BackRub because the technology checks backlinks to determine a site's importance.

Notice the paid ads on the fancy logo click through term..

    Search Term: valentine's day

I wonder if those PPC advertisers are getting massive clicks and no conversions...or if it's working out good for them. (?)

Seems like they would at least spell GOOGLE correctly. *LOL*

I thought maybe the stem was supposed to represent the L, but it isn't even close.

We need the "L" for love. Looks like there's no "love" in Google.

Actually it is no mistake and it is not because of what you link.

Google says the L is the stem and thats what the L is any reference to Googe is a coinky dink.

I saw a lot of funny blogs about this logo. I like when they change their logo up. It shows that they still retain their original attitude of what Googles about.

Forgetting an L is nothing. For New Year's, it looks like they spelled it "Gzogte"!
(It's on that holiday logos page.)

It's not up on that holiday-logo archive page (on G, link in this thread somewhere) yet, but it'll probably be put there soon. Your best bet is probably to keep checking it...
