Payment Delay Notice + Balance Drop
    Potential Payment Delay

Commission Junction strives to issue payments to publishers on or around the 20th. Due to the bank holiday in the United States on Monday, February 19, 2007 there will be a slight delay in payments this month, specifically check and foreign drafts. We expect no delay with direct deposits, which will begin hitting on or around February 20.
Also note balance dropped (Canadian direct deposit)

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

A bank holiday is going to prevent them from from printing and mailing checks, but there will be no delay in direct deposits? Who wrote this? Was it the same cat who made up "All your base are belong to us?"

Monday is a federal holiday, No mail service and the majority of businesses are closed.

Direct deposits are done automatically I assume they probably schedule the debits to be done out of their bank account on the 10th when they lock our comissions, so even if the banks closed the deposit to our account is debited from theirs the same way our debit card is debited when you make a purchase on a Sunday.

Anyone that uses direct deposit in the US see their balance drop yet?

Nothing has happened here for me yet so I am curious.

Obviously CJ is in no rush. In the distant past, but not allways, they have tried to pay early when there was a holiday. One does have to wonder if they are using this banking holiday to their advantage. You know, banks closed but is CJ still getting another day interest out of all that money? Do banks pay interest on a holiday? If so, I'm sure that is hundreds of thousands of dollars gaining interest that extra day. Inquiring minds want to know..

Now, if everything drops tomorrow and gets deposited into affiliates accounts the next day, then that is really close to their schedule. But if this takes days, one would wonder.

This always ends the same. You'll get paid most likely this week as usual. It's not even the 20th yet, the end of the month is still over a week away.

"Direct deposits will begin hitting on or around February 20, however depending on their financial institution, some publishers may experience a 2-3 day delay with direct deposits."

    Tomorrow things will start happening.

I still think this message is rather bizarre, esp in light of the fact that Monday is the 19th. Apparently somebody at CJ ordered from the "back room" menu at the tea parlor.

I probably could have worded my above post better, but my comment is simply to consider what the financial gain would be for any company to wait a few days before paying out hundreds of thousands in payments. So far CJ is not really behind (yet), but it probably explains why they did not do any of this last week.

CJ really is dependable with their payments so I'm not complaining about that, just noting how even a one day delay could provide a positive financial gain in banking interest.

I really doubt that they hold on to the money just to make a little interest.

They require most merchants to maintain a positive balance, so they have the money in their posession an average of 35 days (50 days for sales at the beginning of the month and 20 days for sales at the end of the month) before dispursing it to affiliates. A few days (and it seldom varies more than that) more or less isn't going to have a big impact on the interest that they make on it (if they even have it in an interest-bearing account).

It's considerably more than "hundreds of thousands" of dollars that they pay out each month. They have 200 CJ Performers, and one of the requirements there is $10k/month in earnings. That's over $2 million just from the CJ Performers.

In the big picture, it's not much. Even if it's $10 million in commissions (and I'm not confident it's that high) at 4% interest (and it's probably not that high), that's only $1100 per day in extra interest. That's a drop in the bucket to a company like CJ.

I doubt it's due to interest, however, they would very well clean up on it. Paypal alone is paying over 5% and I have some accounts that are paying in the mid 6% range. Interest is free money, no reason to not take advantage of earning it, especially for the float.

My guess is that the holiday messed things up. Neither my nor my husband's account have had any amount deducted - I'm guessing it'll be tomorrow.

The other thing I am noticing is slow reporting. Does anyone know if there is a delay today? I have a normal level of clicks but no conversions, whereas I usually see about 10 at least.

Wake up people, can't you put 1 and 1 together? Monday was the 19th - get it? And to top it off they post a "possible payment delay" notice in advance?

Get ready for the notice that tells us how they "strive to make payments on time, but..." - that they'll try real hard to process this month's payments by Thursday or Friday.
