Is it better to have a shorter or longer cookie life? Ours is currently 120 days because most people order small samples and come back and purchase larger orders later. Is this good or detrimental?

Longer cookies are better that short ones. Yours is fine.

I'd say, leave it at your nice 120 days, but offer an extension to 180 or better yet 365 days to those affiliates that make an extra step for you (be it by a particular volume of gross sales sent within a given period of time, or by importing your datafeed, or anything else that would benefit you in the long run).
