Here is some facts out of one of our canadian newspapers.
A recent survey suggests Canadians still aren't comfortable purchasing products over the Internet.
Slightly more than one in 10 sat down in front of the computer last year and spent a dollar or more shopping online.
This survey was conducted on the shopping habits of 52,000 Canadians. Speculatations are that people are still shy about where their credit information is going to on the Internet.Anyway you want to slice and dice it ,10 per cent is not exactly high.
Across Canada the top four online store types were:bookstores(23%),CD stores(14%),department stores(14%) and computer stores(13%)
The popularity of online book and CD shopping is likely because companies in those catagories, such as Indigo and Future Shop ,are well established and have bricks and mortar stores as well as e-com sites. "People trust those companies"
The study also showed more guys than gals continue to shop online -57% guys to 43% gals.
"Successful online retailers will be those with something unique in terms of product or selection"
"The whole point is, you've got to be offering something that will drive people to the Internet.
I wonder how this relates to USA stat's?
