Errrrrrrrrrrm. Is the new index on www rather than www2 or www3?

The index on www2 and www3 looks like a really old one, whereas the www one looks pretty similar to the current one. Hmmm.

It will take a few days to migrate from WWW2 & 3 to WWW. Also, the migration across the server network is incremental so your results may differ depending upon which cluster you happen to be routed to at any given time.

Give it a few days to settle down before coming to any conclusions.

www2 and www3 have the new index. I have about 80 new pages indexed for one site on www2 and www3.

lots of disappointing results for me too on my older domain. New domain seems like it could be good though.

www2 and www3 (apart from the crappy rankings I'm getting) don't have a lot of pages that www has.

For instance, I have the #1 ranking on www for a particular term that's not in the index at all, anywhere on www2 and www3. Odd.

This looks a bit screwy to me.

I have had pages disappear too. I have a top 3 ranking in a highly competitive keyword and it is not in top 30 now. That page has not been touched for a few months.

Chinaski I hope you're right. If things stay as they are, I'm going to have to go out and get a real job. A lot of my sites have just disappeared. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're just messing about with us

Is there any way to check what PR will be in new index?

I have noticed that in www2 there is generally a few thousand fewer pages reported than at www. Either Google has been spring cleaning or the missing pages are still being added.

I'm not panicking yet, but I can confirm the poor dance results so far. If it stays this way, I'm going to lose my shirt.

So far so good, bunch of new pages, still looking for my new site. I saw it yesterday for awhile and now can't see it at all.

What a mess.. So far I've seen duplicate results (sites listed twice on the same search term), completely unrelated sites - including polish and japanese language sites - topping highly competitive terms, sites with incorrect url's being displayed, sites topping two word terms and then not even showing in the top 100 for the sites target three word term, and so on..

I think this update still has a long way to go.. I'll live in hope anyway as my sites have taken their first real battering in over a year if nothing changes.

It does seem rather messy; I agree it looks like it's got a long way to go.

I appear to have dropped out of W2 and W3 for terms I was in the top 5 for; but that happened to me 2 or 3 updates ago and by the time it was over I was back in top 5.

    So don't anyone panic yet.

    Try me.

It looks like a major change in the ranking algo if this goes live.. I've got search terms ranked #1 which really have to reason to be there, missing pages, huge swings in rankings.

I put in the name of my home town and all three indices came back looking very different.

What a shame GoogleGuy isn't here!

It sounds as though you think something has gone awry Markymark. If it has - will they fix it or do we have to wait another month?

I've got the exact same page (a one-page website) coming up twice in a row in WWW3.

There was a guy in college who when asked why he wasn't panicing about his exams used to say, "panic is not a useful emotion"

My mind says it too, but when I look at WWW2 and WWW3, it's hard not to run around the room screaming until I hit a wall and knock myself out. Actually, that might be the best way to get through this. When I wake up, it will all be OK again. There's no place like home, there's no place like home... Yeah, I think something has gone awry. Perversely, I am getting mixed results. 1design4life is doing very well, for example and most secondary phrases are holding firm, but as someone posted above, many of the results are just plain irrelevant. Google have pulled indexes in the past - but I think we have to work on the assumption that this is what's going to go live on www.

I'm off to phone a couple of people in the industry to see what they think. What's with the huge number of meta description snippets ?
