    It's a Boy...Now With a Name!
My partner Sarah and I delivered a beautiful baby boy last Tuesday the 13th of March!

Now, the interesting part: I delivered him! It was just the two of us, at home, with nobody else involved at all. It was a beautiful, natural, painless birth. Start to finish, the whole process was less than 4 hours.

Of course, we didn't plan it quite this way. We had a midwife and were planning a home birth, but he just decided to come quickly.

He was a little more than 2 weeks early, but 12 hours after his birth he was 7 lbs. 2oz. so he was quite developed for his age.

And we still don't have a name! Unofficially, his name is, "We thought you were a girl."

I thought I'd share my joy with everyone!

Congratulations! Our daughter is a midwife, so we often hear about beautiful home births. Be sure and update us when his name reveals itself!

Ad, congratulations to you and Sarah on your baby boy. What a great experience that must have been. Have a few friends who did home birthing, and they loved it too.

As for naming the child, I think Alan (that's with one "L") is a fantastic name. He will grow up wise, masculine (and yet be in touch with his feelings) and undoubtedly be a superior fisherman.

    Congratulations!

Oh, did I mention....... my name is Alan?

Congratulations Adam. Are you sure it was painLESS? I would think that Sarah might disagree

Congrats to you and Sarah, Adam! I'm expecting a little one in a couple of months and the idea of delivering him/her myself makes my heart skip. You are a brave man! Well done!! Enjoy your time with the little man.

It was interesting, I have never felt so calm and confident. My body/spirit just took over and followed basic intuition.

I would highly recommend the experience to everyone. But you'd probably want to have a midwife present.

    Thats an adorable kid.

I have a logistics question, if you don't mind my asking... Did you birth at home and then go to hosp. immediately for checkup, blood work, etc?

    Congratulations.

You have to be pretty gutzy to deliver your own child.

Do you do your own taxes too?

Sorry for the quip but I could not resist.

    God bless you all.

Actually, the only painful part was the beginning contractions as the baby moved from the uterus to the birth canal, and that lasted only about an hour. The actual delivery was the easy part.
