After you chase these daily coupon offers, try one for 30 days and watch how much better it is received and promoted by coupon affiliates.
Your current method only makes it harder for your affiliates.
    My opinion...of course.

    An opinion I share.

I think merchants may not have any idea what we do all day and how busy we are. I am considering dropping this merchant, and I just started with them a few days ago. I have one sale, but didn't chase down the daily stuff, never posted it - i was out of town. They seem great in many ways, but i can't spend time every day chasing a sale here or there. Nor do I have time to read daily emails from any merchant. If I did that for every merchant I worked with, I'd go broke. They have a right to do as they please, I'm not knocking them - just saying my style and time management skills may not be a good fit.

My visitors don't always buy on the spot and I've gotten emails from them where they feel a little jilted, maybe that's not the right word... i had one person write me and say they saw a daily coupon (not talking about baghaus here) that was decent, but they waited a few days and nothing better came along and they were disappointed. So I think instead of moving to close the sale, in some cases, you're convincing the consumer to wait until tomorrow in case there's a better deal around the corner. That seems less than ideal for me, the consumer and the merchant.

I agree with smart and ... ummmm ... smart above. (I'm not smart enough to know if one is smarter than the other, I'm just smart enough to know they are both smarter than me )

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

    My $0.02

The time isn't worth the effort. I have 1,000 things to track, and a coupon that expires every 4 days will not be added to my list.

If you want to do this, figure out a way to make it dynamic, I post it once, and feel free to change it every 4 days without me having to track it down and manually update it.

The daily email was a terrible idea. Look at it from the affiliate perspective. I work with hundreds of merchants, how many emails do you think I get in 1 day? I was ready to put you into my spam filter.

    Agreed x 2.

I don't typically deal with daily coupons. Just not worth my trouble. The one exception *might* be if given an entire week's or month's coupons ahead of time. Then I plug them in and let the database do the work. But even this scenario is unlikely.

Some folks promote hundreds (or thousands) of merchants. What would happen if each of these merchants had daily deals to promote? How many merchant offers are going to get updated on a daily basis? You got it--only the top converters.

Just my two cents. But add it to Scoot's and Donut's two cents, and we have six cents.

Edit: Mack has also added his two cents, so now we have eight cents.

And a great 8 cents it is too

What if this was made into say a full page graphic that was updated from the merchants end via SAS and then showed the latest deals, no changes needed at your end and easy to manage in terms of format and update directly from inside SAS?

Elsewise something script based but that can be hazardous and can limit the number of people who want to use it.

What would make it easy for you to get frequent new coupons such as Baghaus have explored?

    Cheers

full page graphic is of no interest to me, i'm primarily a text link seller.

"What would make it easy for you to get frequent new coupons such as Baghaus have explored?"
If they get too busy to send them out ("Ok, we missed getting coupons out for Monday and Tuesday") and we're saying the work isn't generally worth the effort, it's seems obvious that it's a hassle for everyone. As I pointed out, for the consumer too.

If Baghaus really, really wants to do this, why not punlish some baseline, long term coupons that us lazier types can use - that way they can also publish daily, hourly, and minute long coupons that we can choose to ignore.

Again, baghaus is a fine merchant and are entitled to do as they please. And my use of lazy affs is a joke - i'm willing to bet $100 that I work more hours per year than anyone who works at baghaus. So I'm just saying that time management is a huge issue with us affs - which is why there's a few of us here barking a little.

Could there please be some sort of text link that would just say "Deal of the Day" or "Current Promotions" or anything similar that would just be a regular ole html text link that would go to whatever area on their site that would have their promotions if possible. Pretty please

    So far then...

    1. Long coupons as well as the shorter ones so that those partners with less time can implement as time allows and don't need to jump on the shorter time coupons.

    2. Keep the shorts for those that have time, have Bahaus as a key money maker, and for those with dedicated sites, blogs, DB driven coupon systems etc that want frequent content.

    3. Create "daily deals" page that can be a standing link direct to the live deals / coupons

    Cheers

    Hi all,

Thanks so much for the valuable feedback. The daily coupons idea was meant to supplement our regular longer term coupons that we are still planning to release and keep updated. We currently have 2 longer term coupons active now:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=87242

However they are set to expire on the 5th. I'll post here in a few hours with updated coupons that will be good until May 15th. Actually we'll probably be just extending the expiration on the 12% off $60 or more coupon since that one seemed to work pretty well, and adding a larger $$ off for larger orders coupon.

I think we realized quickly that the daily email might not be such a good idea for busy affiliates, and we quickly changed to the weekly email format.

Donuts - thanks so much for trying us out! We're always open to feedback on ways we can improve this program for our affiliates.

Thanks for your patience everyone as we really try hard to make this program the best it can be for all types of affiliate promotions.

Great, look forward to seeing those in the deals database - cuz they expire today - so any affs updating right now, don't see them in the deals database ("only current" deals viewing option doesn't show them the day they are expiring). So... another piece of input... by waiting until the last day, you are again squeezing the time available for affs to get your stuff updated on their sites. Try to get things updated a few days before they expire and you'll avoid creating an gap between where stuff expires and they get new stuff posted up - it's in your interests and mine for you to do so. Tell AMWSO to tickle you 5 days before or something.

    Thanks a ton for listening!

    I second that!

You're doing great with so many things including AMWSO as OPM, exclusive SAS, auto-deposit, good comm rate, nice site, ABW participation, 90 day cookie, no loyaltyware thieves, wide product selection, great prices and so much more. This coupon thing we've been discussing is important to couponers, but overall, it's somewhat picking at nits (since you already had the longer term coupons behind the shorties). Keep doing all this good stuff - continuous pursuit of perfection will get your program cranking! I bet you'll get onto the Top 100 PowerRank soon and begin to climb that ladder - I see no reason why that won't happen. I like your program more and more every time I look at it!

In case they've been getting missed, we've been updating the daily coupons over here in this thread in Coupon's Corner:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=88673

Also note in that thread, we've extended our long term coupons expiration from May 15 to June 15.
