    I need a new phrase
As much as I love tweety bird, my African Grey Parrot is starting to drive me nuts, he says over and over "I tawt I taw a putty tat, I did I did"...so I'm on the search for a good new phrase to teach him.

He's a great talker , speaks over 50 words already.

    Any suggestions?

I'll video whatever he learns first from all the suggestions.

PS. Suffering suchatash...is out...been trying it for weeks. He's picky I guess.

I'm not trying to sound morbid, but this thread got Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" skit stuck in my head. If by any chance you are a Monty Python fan, it is one of the funniest skits they ever did. Maybe you could find a line in the skit you could teach him. If nothing else, one of the last lines is "I wanted to be a lumberjack". That could sound pretty funny coming from a parrot.

Does it have to be bird stuff? If you like Looney Tunes there are tons of good one-liners like Bugs' "Ain't I a stinker?" You could teach it one-liners from anything, like Shakespeare, Ben Franklin, Mark Twain, etc. How about "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?"

A woman had taught her parrot to say "Who is it?" whenever there was a knock at the door.

One morning, she awoke to find that a pipe was leaking under her kitchen sink, so she called a plumber. After waiting several hours for him to arrive, she finally gave up, and went to work.

A while later, there was a knock on the door, and the parrot said "Who is it?"

    The plumber answered "The Plumber".

the bird responded "Who is it?"

The plumber again said, "The Plumber!"

The bird again: "Who is it?"

    The plumber: "The Plumber!!"

    The bird: "Who is it?"

The plumber, getting upset, raised his voice: "The Plumber!!!"

    The bird: "Who is it?"

    Again, louder, angrier: "The Plumber!!!"

    The bird: "Who is it?"

Now, the plumber shouted as loud and as angrily as he could: "The Plumber!!!!" and then dropped dead of a heart attack.

A couple of hours later, the woman returned home, saw the dead body in front of her door, and exclaimed: "Who is it?"

    The parrot responded: "The Plumber".

So, you could use "Who is it?" or "The Plumber"

    I like Rexanne's idea.

Pick something you promote and teach the parrot one feature that makes sense on its' own.

My hubby and I went to a bird store and there was a beautiful Scarlet Macaw there with a pretty good vocabulary. Every time my husband would try to leave the room, it would ask him another question. "How you doin'?" "How's the weather?" LOL.
