    Stange Easter Traditions
so, I need to know, does anyone else have a strange Easter tradition like my family. My family's Bulgarian and we have this tradition of painting our Easter eggs and taking turns "fighting" with them. One person holds their egg and another hits that egg on the top with an egg of their own. It's kind of become an expanded tradition even among my non-Bulgarian friends.

Does the one whose egg won it gets the other person's (the broken) egg?

Not in our version. Depending on whose house we are at either each person keeps their own egg or the cats eat well. The winning person (of the household) does get an extra treat (usually a sweet of kind).

Oh, ok... In our version the winner keeps all the eggs. But really only symbolically (as, in the end of the "show", all are put back into a little basket -- broken and non-broken -- and eaten by all)... It is not a necessary "ritual" to do the "egg fighting" but egg presenting (going around relatives and friends and presenting each with an egg you've colored the evening before) is a nice little tradition we have. My daughter immensely enjoys this part. She is a very giving person. (...and why would some wonder if there is a limit to GBs are in my blood?!)

Easter traditions in our family have been crazy for at least five years - something always happens out of the ordinary - this year we're getting an Easter cat out of the blue. :-)

Otherwise, we do the typical ethnic thing: feast!

Peeps jousting! ShareASale Michael just taught me. Take two peeps. Stick a toothpick in each one of them and nuke 'em for 30 seconds or so. First one to combust loses.

We also have the eggfight thing, even though winner just gets to be a winner and eggs are eaten together later on.

One year, we had a spontaneous egg fight in the backyard. When I say egg fight, I mean eggs flung everywhere at everybody. The eggs weren't exactly in any sort of condition that I'd call "edible" afterwards. It was fun!

After reading Carolyn's post, I have the urge to go purchase some marshmallow peeps...

Yes, small winged ladies who search underneath pillows for teeth that have fallen out of a child's head.

Some folks do an Easter Seder.

(That's the original, historical roots of Easter, in OT types & shadows.)
