Post Google Launches Callable Search - "Goog411"
This launch was either so quiet that ABW hasn't spotted it yet--or it's been known about here for so long that I forgot about it...In any case, it's officially launched now.

Here's a random writeup I found on Google News about it:

Mobile phone users can get listings sent to their phone via SMS, including the telephone number and full address. You can also be connected to a business for free, a great feature that got dropped from my previous favorite free 411 service 1-800-Free-411.

To start racking up the phone bills at the Goofleplex, just call 1-800-GOOG-411 !
    (I haven't called it...yet...)

Nice and it's free. I think t-mobile charges like $0.79 per call, while AT&T gives you 4 free 411 calls before they hit you hard. That is why I never use it.

Yeah, this is one Google thing I may end up using. Sprint charges $1.25 for 411 last I checked, so I've never used it. But I've gotten so out of the habit of "calling Information" now, that it'll probably be a while before I'm in a situation to actually do it.

Wow...my old high school buddy is the guy behind 1-800-411-SAVE, suppose it's a compliment that Google entered that market channel... Where isn't Google going to go?
