April 11th, 2007, 06:51 PM #1Bye Bye Mercantila
I've been in the Mercantila program for 2-3 years, but used them on an extremely limited basis (for only a small group of products from one manufacturer I could find no where else) because:
1. Primarily over-sized unuseable pre-fab LS product images;
2. 800 nos plastered all over; and
3. the WORST OF ALL - Adsense on their pages.
Despite this, those few products sold fairly well, so I have kept the links.
Now today this email:
We wanted to let you know about some changes we’re making to our commission structure. The goal of these changes is long-term sustainability and profitability. We want the Mercantila Affiliate Program to stay strong into the foreseeable future – so that everyone involved in the program wins.
To this end, the new structure features a 5% base commission, which rises to 6% when sales exceed $7,500 and 7% when sales exceed $10,000.
Thank you for your involvement in the Mercantila Affiliate program, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about these changes.

That whooshing sound is those few links of theirs forever leaving my sites.
(I have found a new merchant for those products. )

I see this as a trend already.
Many merchants have reduced the commisions.
The most notable for me:
Vitacost from 20/10 to 12/8
ToysRus from 7/5 to 3%
And now Mercantila....
Strange bird Mercantila, isn't it? As a merchant I mean... not a usual one.
