KooKooBear Kids cutback to shorter return days?
Aside from their unresponsiveness to the feed issue, what's with reducing return days? I'm just organizing, pruning and updating my merchant lists, and this is how it stands:

For starters, at the outset it was 45 days.
Now all of a sudden it's 30 days.

I've heard of giving longer return days, but a merchant cutting back and reducing return days? Never heard of it.

Do I have it correctly, wasn't it 45 days?

Here's the original announcement, so it looks like it was 45 days to start:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=83206

To me, 30 days is great and anything over that is just gravy. Honestly, if someone doesn't buy for over 30 days I probably didn't have very much to do with it. Longer cookies is a good gesture that demonstrates that a merchant is affiliate-friendly, but I rarely see sales more than 30 days out. (UPDATE: I just looked at my SAS Return Days Analysis for all merchants and from my last 500 sales, 486 were same day, 10 were 1-2 days, 1 was 3-5 days, 3 were 5-15 days, and none were more than 15 days.)

Also, from the original announcement, it looks like they increased cookies to 90 days after your 3rd sale and 180 days after your 7th sale (although the 180 day offer was only good through 1/31/07?). Are either or both of these bonuses still active, Geno?

    I doubt it, Michael.

I no longer manage this merchant's affiliate program, and I know there have been other changes made to the program since I left.

And I just received an affiliate email from them ... it seems to be a normal customer circular with a little bit of affiliate text at the top ... hmmm ... methinks they may not have too many clues about certain things ;(

We would like to inform everyone that all is well at KooKoo Bear Kids. Our sales are strong and our presence on the web is growing every day.

Over the past 3 weeks we have revamped our program and its focus in an effort to work more closely with our current affiliates and help them to be more successful. We also have a dedicated affiliate team that will work closely with all our affiliates.

We have added new creative and promotions to the affiliate program and welcome your input and suggestions for more additions. For example, we have a new “free gift with purchase” promotion with matching creative. You can click the banner here to view the promotion landing page on the KooKoo Bear Kids Site:

Free Snuggle with purchase of nursery décor

Thanks for your feedback and comments about our cookie duration. We are pleased to inform you that we have instituted a 60 day cookie duration to support your efforts.

In the mean time if anyone has comments or suggestions, feel free to shoot us an email at affiliate@kookoobearkids.com.

Many thanks and we’re looking forward to a record breaking spring!

Actually, I'd rather ask questions here, I like the interchange of ideas and input. Couple of questions for you:

    1) At ShareResults your program says it pays 8-10% commission, while at ShareaSale's you're paying 7-8%. Why the difference, and under what circumstances exactly does one get the 8% at SAS and 10% at SR? Why the difference?

    2) At ShareResults, you say 2% on sale items. Huh? 2%? Hey dude, what's up with that?

    3) How can we be sure the tracking is properly distinguished between the two networks - especially considering the discrepancy?

    4) What's up with the second-tier that has suddenly popped up, and how much does that pay? Why isn't the % for that stated? And how does that work with two networks involved?

    5) Continuous performance bonuses?
    http://www.shareasale.com/shareasale...rchantID=11721

    6) Also on that same SAS merchant page: Dedicated program management?

To be perfectly honest with you, "dedicated" managers usually have a name, especially when they're inhouse. Even at LS - I got a phone call 2 weeks ago from one of my AM's from a BIG program with several big sites including one nationally known - and she has a name. And is your same in-house manager managing both programs on both networks?

Sorry, but quite honestly with the datafeed issue in mind, some of us just need to give this all a taste test, if you know what I mean.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments. Webworker, you raised a lot of great questions. I represent Share Results and it may not be appropriate for me to post here. Nontheless, with all due respect to ShareASale, colleagues and friends, allow me to simply say that KooKoo Bear Kids are an honest, reputable brand.

Yes, they have an affiliate program both at ShareASale and Share Results. Questions pertaining to the either one or both the affiliate programs can be addressed here on ABestWeb or via email, which ever you prefer. However, they may need to be addressed in their appropriate forum.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, there was a transition period over the course of the past weeks, however things are settling now.

Tracking of the two programs is distinguished by the different tracking links used. It is common to have multiple programs launch in multiple networks however the tracking profiles are always unique ensuring that affiliates receive credit for their sales regardless of which network they are promoting through. You will just need to refer to your appropriate reports for results.

Once again, if it is not appropriate for me to post here, my apologies in advance. Just wanted to clarify that KooKoo Bear Kids was indeed running an affiliate program through both networks and Joe, owner and operator of KooKoo Bear Kids was at the helm of both programs, ensuring that the needs of affiliates in both networks were well looked after.

    Thanks,

    Sarafina

    Our Program
We would like to talk to anyone one on one about our program and how it may or not be right for you. However, having a detailed conversation over this form is not our idea of working together.

We welcome a conversation with anyone interested in our program. We have a group of people who have names (Louis, Joe, Brian, Jeremy Gina and Alex) who are here to assist anyone with promotion ideas, creative, marketing support, and of course great quality products.

As for commissions on our on Sale products - we did away with the 2% commission over four months ago and as Sarafina mentioned tracking of the two programs are distinguished by the different tracking profiles to ensuring that affiliates receive credit for their sales regardless of which network they are promoting through.

Let me end by saying we have a great brand with stylish products that upscale moms want for their babies and kids. Our program is new and is open to suggestions to help make it better. Please send an e-mail to us at affiliate@kookoobearkids.com or call us directly with your questions and interest in the program.

    Thanks

Joe, many people in this forum will decide whether or not to work with you based on your responses here. So far, you are not making a good impression. Open communication is something that affiliates value a great deal.

Removed your manually added signature, you can address issues here, but not advertise your site via links in a signature.

Oh, really now! Do tell about it. So then, some of us might have gotten a seriously mistaken impression somewhere along the line, is that it?

sarafina, since you've decided to jump in and get yourself involved in this discussion, it's taken quite a different turn. Perhaps you'd like to clarify for us exactly what's going on. You see, some of us happen to remember exactly how we heard of this merchant and this program, and when, and how, and from whom - which is why some of us joined up.

So WTF happened along the way? Why the desire to communicate privately, and the reluctance about public discussions? Can you or your network explain that to us?

You do realize that some of us have good reason, from past experience and learning, and just plain common sense, to be very careful about trust issues. We do like to know that we will indeed be paid per agreements, and when, and how much and for how long. Some of us have learned to look at such issues - for one thing, by being involved with certain LS merchants who take their sweet time - so it's only fair and reasonable to wonder, and to question all, no matter who and what and where. Sorry, but that's how it is.

Personally, I see no reason for secrecy about any of all that. Public discussions about issues that affect all affiliates of a program are perfectly reasonable - and reluctance kind of sends off an alert bell, to be perfectly honest.

    Hello webworker,

We completely agree with everything you say. No need to be sorry for the questions. We encourage open dialogue at all times.

Open communication has always been our philosophy as it is highly value by affiliates as Loxly mentioned and us. Similarly, providing information to affiliates and paying commissions for ALL valid sales is a non-compromising issue. After all, this is a partnership built on trust, respect and honour. There is no place for secrecy or deceit.

You see, some of us happen to remember exactly how we heard of this merchant and this program, and when, and how, and from whom - which is why some of us joined up.
webworker, I'm afraid I don't quite know the source of your confusion but what I can tell you is that KooKoo Bear Kids launched their affiliate program in Share Results in late August of last year, and expanded the program to the ShareASale network in December. Both programs are active and functioning today.

Share Results team work closely with Joe to manage the affiliate program in Share Results, and Joe and the team he mentioned above in his post are managing the ShareASale affiliate program.

Once again, I hope this helps to clarify some of the misunderstandings. The program is a good stable program, and with your input, it will be a brilliant one.

Please feel free to ask any further questions here. We are more than happy to respond.

Out of respect for ShareASale, we will respond to your specific questions about the KooKoo Bear Kids affiliate program in Share Results in the SR forum and post a link here so all queries can be appropriately answered.

    Many thanks again for all.

    Sarafina

Yes, December is correct. Sarafina, with all due respect, realistically speaking, the program was not really actively "promoted" or visible until December, which is the very first ever I had heard about KKBK, when it was announced with much fanfare, as a Sharasale program, which is my "home network" of choice That is when I learned of it and joined up.

Now - I said that to say this:

Just to keep things simple, since this was posted in the SAS forum which is where the concern lies with those of us brought on board when the program was publicized and launched at SAS, let's keep it simple. Frankly, I'd rather deal with the issues with the program as I've been involved with it. I'd really prefer to stick with the issues of concern.

But now that I (and others here) became involved, with 3rd quarter looming in the not-too-distant future, it's time to begin updating with out delay, which involves assessment and evaluation of programs - 3rd QTR is a critical time in some markets, both for then and 4th QTR preparation.

Frankly, my concern right now (since it's pertinent to sites I'm right now working on), is what I find to be inconstencies with regard to the most current newsletter sent out by KKBK. It simply doesn't compute or sit right. And since I'm snowed under with work (as are many others) right now, it's time to cut to the chase. This is not about the "other network" s'il vous plait - it's about updating our pages with affiliate links.

Joe from KKBK, what can you tell us about the "thumbnail" images?

    Hi Webworker,

Thanks for your post and continued interest in our program.

Regarding the thumbnails, our system was not initially configured to provide this, and with 5000 SKUs, it presented quite a bit of difficulty. However, we have contracted a specialist to help us build a new datafeed, and we’re happy to announce that we should have a new feed available soon with thumbnails in place. We will be certain to let you know once it is available.

With regards to your concerns about the 3rd quarter, we have a great set of promotions lined up for the remainder of the spring, including a brand new mother’s day promotion announced today. We hope you’ll continue to partner with us for this 3rd quarter and for years to come.

    >>> Mack, we’re not sure which questions didn’t get answered, but if you could please reiterate them, we’d be happy to address them.

    Thanks again.

Obviously people are understanding who KKBK are. My advice to all affiliates would be to NOT join this affiliate program. I have my reasons about which I can elaborate if Joe or anyone else from KKBK wants me to (they'll most likely ignore my post), but I also know other people (service providers) who have similar reasons for not working with them any more. Many service providers to KKBK were obviously screwed, so what stops them from screwing the affiliates too? Nothing I guess!

So, do NOT touch this affiliate program because you'll regret you did if you do.

And THAT, sir, is not only completely off topic for this thread - IMHO it's blatantly self-promotional. If you have a special program announcement for your program, then PAY to have one done. That's a three-letter-word: P-A-Y - in plain English, not hard at all to understand for most people.

And what's more, that banner with a direct deep link to your product page is forum link spamming, aka spamming the search engines for backlinks.

none were more than 15 days
Michael, I've had at least one substantial, high-dollar sale (last Fall, from late summer traffic) that I know for sure was 70 return days because the OPM told me so. Aside from the proponderance of Walmart non-commissionables, what's how I know to look very hard at return days for some verticals - including this one.
