    Foolish merchants. What comes around...
I joined a program back in 2004 and was kicked out very quickly (less than a month) for lack of activity.
I just got an email from this merchant practically begging me to join their program.
    OOPS!!!

You're absolutely right, what goes around comes around. I read numerous posts here about merchants dropping affiliates for lack of sales and still scratch my head. I try to understand others' points of view, even if I don't agree, but still can't understand this behavior. Guess this will continue to be an unsolved mystery for me...

Maybe now they will at least learn a valuable lesson from this. I doubt it, but maybe.

Point made, analyzed and proven 10000000000000 of times. Send them a copy of my book in response, Scoot (I'll mail you another one). "Foolish" is the right adjective here.

Uh, see the Lillian Vernon Thread. Seems like there is an epidemic of dumb program management.

I Was NOT begging Scooter!! I always include a picture of me kneeling, and I always end a recruitment email with 12 "please, pretty pleases". Besides, back then I never thought you'd amount to anything. Things are different now that you got lucky and made it to the big leagues.

That stardom takes time? Or - is it that Scooter is slow? 90% or more of my sign ups are still not active, but I figure the 90% are just my extra horses in the corral (had to get a bit of home town jazizzle in somewhere).

with the changing landscape of not only merchants, but the people running the show for the merchant it's hard to guess who did that to you in the past.

I would politely tell them about what happened and let them know you will need a higher commission rate due to the volume your program ramps to. (scaled com% best argument).

If they want it up any time soon, it would take $ bonus (not unheard of) to get it to the front of the line ;-)

err.... just remembered who started this tread lol maybe I should just be listening to what your going to do

...or you could discuss a "Signing Bonus" like in the big leagues. But, alas, that merchant is most likely still bush league -- at best.
