How Bad is it on the East Coast?
...I'm hearing that many areas are flooded.

Any ABW-ers on the East Coast in the affected areas?

It's very bad...lots of flooding. Rivers and streams have overflowed onto roadways and houses are experiencing flooding. People that live in coastal areas had to be evacuated to shelters. The local news showed geese paddling down the local parkway.

There were some major downpour here in NYC. Rain were coming down sideways. Traffic was a nightmare due to floods. Can't take one step outside without getting drenched. It was bad.

We have high winds in Northern Va, expecting gusts of up to 50 mph! eek! So glad the wind waited until today to get really bad (so I could do my 5K run yesterday)!

We're okay here. It was ugly but now it's just overcast. There's standing water on our property but that's normal this time of year. Lots of tree limbs down but the trees stayed upright. Dams held. Just waiting for the sun to come out now.

    Thanks for asking!

Like the above wasn't enough, I'm reading that anywhere between 29 and 32 people were killed at Virginia Tech... [do not mean to sidetrack the thread, but this world is going crazy, it seams]

Shortly after my chirpy post this morning it started raining again...and it's still raining. And our yard is flooded and water is cascading down the hill behind our house. But at least it's not getting into the house.

In the meantime, ironically, the bad weather has caused the annual frog count to be postponed http://timesunion.com/AspStories/sto...date=4/16/2007. This should be a banner year for frogs and other amphibians. The snakes will be very happy.

There is significant flooding in the area, but it seems to be on the western side of the Hudson River which is at a lower elevation than here on the eastern side.

The Mets game has been postponed due to rain so I guess we'll have to entertain ourselves tonight.

It's bloody awful here! Winds up to 80km per hour, tons of snow and it's melting and causing all sorts of problems...some Spring we're having eh?

I Live on Cape Cod - about a 5 minute walk from the beach beside a meadow leading to a marsh - about six feet below sea level. So the tide came about 2 feet from the house - which is typical of this kind of weather. Lots of trees down. But all is okay.

The sun came out and I got some yard clean up done. I guess the rain will be returning tonight. It felt like a category 1 hurricane.

I was very worried for the Coast Guard last night. I heard their helicopters out alot. All boats were supposed to be in port far ahead of the storm, because we had so much warning.

I hope everyone else is okay too.

The rain was awful yesterday in Maryland. It was full force for what seemed like all day. Today it has been raining on and off, but the winds are scary. They are up to 25 mph with husts of 35 mph and it's slated to get worse tonight. I hope everyone is cozy, warm and safe.
