    Happy yet sad.
On Saturday my grandma who was 98 passed away. We were so lucky to have her for so many years, and right up to the end she was in great shape. She actually played yahtzee the day she died. She wasn't sick, her heart just stopped.

I am so happy that I had such a great grandma, I lived down the street from her growing up so not a day went by that I wasn't at her house.

She came to my daughter's preschool graduation because she didn't think she would make it to her high school graduation. We were happy to tell grandma I told you so 3 years ago at my daughter's high school graduation.

I'm very sorry about your loss Connie. My grandmother died when I was six and she is probably my favorite person to this day. You are lucky to have had her up to now. Seems like you have some great genes.

    Sincerely,
    Annie

**hugs** I know how hard it is to say goodbye, even when you know someone had a good, full life. You have a lifetime of memories and your kids have the joy of knowing their great-grandmother.

Connie: So sorry for your loss. I had a wonderful Grandma who lived to be 97 and was an inspiration to me my whole life. Sounds like yours was, too.

My condolences Connie. It sounds like your Grandma had a wonderful, long life and touched many other lives. That is worthy of celebration, somber as it may be.

Connie, I envy your good fortune at having your grandmother with you for so long. My grandma died over 30 years ago and I still miss her. There's something about grandmothers that's irreplaceable.

Keep the good memories close. My condolences on your loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss but great to hear that your Grandma lived so long. Was alone with my Grandma when she passed and felt happy that she wasn't alone.

My wife tells stories about her grandma's cooking and how all the siblings used to gather round to try to snag fresh bread or pie. When I hear those stories I can tell how much she misses her grandma. It's apparent in your post as well. Here's to your family Connie and good memories.

I am very touched to hear that you had a wonderful grandmother as part of your life for so long Connie. 98 years is an awesome span, and to hear that she played yahtzee that day brought a smile to my face. That you and your daughter had her in your lives for such a long time is such a wonderful gift.

I'd imagine by 98 I'll probably give up my hope of making the olympic gymnastics team, or winning the gold medal in pairs figure skating with my partner, Salma Hayek. God bless your grandma, you and your family.

Connie, my heart goes out to you. Grandma's are special people. Mine was full of fire. I still remember the time she looked me in the eye with a cigarette hanging from her lips and told me, "You know, Chris, you're an arrogant ass."

I was 16. She was right.

I'm glad to hear yours didn't suffer. It doesn't make the separation any easier, but it can help keep the tears back from time to time.

    Connie,

Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. How blessed you were to have so many wonderful years together.

I still smile when I think of some of the things my grandmothers taught me - how to tell time, how important it is to tell the truth, how much fun it is to not only read a book, but to get lost in it...

Sounds like you are celebrating all of the wonderful things about her. I bet she sure is proud of you.
