The perils of trying to quit smoking...
So...just now...I was trying to figure something out...which essentially means that I sit with my chin on my hand, and stare at the computer screen until the brain goes "click."

I'm also trying to quit smoking, which means I'm chewing nicorette.

Guess I can't think and chew at the same time...because the next thing I realized, I was drooling on my own hand.

Oh yes folks, she's a sharp one today!
    best,
    Carolyn

The Zyban really helps when you remember to take it. I am using that. I don't drool on myself though.

That's because you reserve your drool for pirates and killer whale trainers!! :-P

Billy, that kind of defeats the purpose of getting healthy. Plus you end up with Febreeze in your lungs so it is even worse.

I quit on christmas eve cold turkey. Since, I have gained 20 lbs

To keep my fingers busy, I learned to crochet. Which I have found to be much more productive than flipping every person that tries to speak to me the bird

This by far, including giving birth, has been the hardest thing to do in my life.

Is the nicorette working? I'm going to ask my doctor about zyban.

I'm still craving, and I HAVE to get this weight off, my trainer (for barrel racing) is going to kill me when her horses lay down because I climbed into the saddle!

    P.S. Saw BeachBDM's post......definately asking about zyban

Try quitting smoking and dieting at the same time. NOT fun!
But the Zyban does help with food cravings too.

I quit smoking. Three times now.

Then I quit quitting and I only had to do that once.

I'm on day 13 as we speak. I used Chantix as opposed to Zyban. I won't say it's been easy, but I have managed to quit without gaining any weight so far.

And Chantix isn't an anti-depressant. Which is what had originally not worked for me last time around... I hate to take an A-D when I'm such a happy person to begin with

So stick with it guys (gals). Smoking is ridiculous, and we all know it.

I just want to send good thoughts and encouragement to everyone who is trying to quit. There's probably nothing harder to accomplish, but it's so worth it. I found that talking about it incessantly helped and poor Dave listened and didn't kill me. He has an eternal place in my heart just for that.

Do whatever it takes. Keep trying. Get all the help you need. Just be stubborn and don't give in.

Jeeese, just got a vision of you spraying your face with febreeze. Spray that into your eyes a couple times BEFORE you smoke, you will forget all about smoking, I'm quite certain.
Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

I remember when I quit smoking, it took me about 4 or 5 times before it finally stuck. The thing that kept holding me back was thinking that I "needed" a cigarette, then wondering how in the world I was gonna quit when I needed one so bad. I remember getting online and doing searches trying to figure out the best way to quit, then I stumbled onto an article about how to quit smoking. The line that changed my life and mind to finally be able to quit was "If you think you can't quit, you won't, but if you know you can, you will." I made the decision that day I knew that I could, and haven't looked back since.

Just don't quit everything else at the same time. This is no time to stop sniffing glue.
