April 20th, 2007, 01:32 PM #1can't view pl
No matter what I try, active transfer, passive transfer, binary, ascii, I can't get anything other than a server error when I try to test the view.pl in a dyse. Can anyone think of anything else I might attempt please? I'm stumped. The server peple say it's either the script (unlikely) or the mode of transfer which I think is the more probable too but I don't know what else to try.

If I change permissions on dyse to 775, I get this;
A file permissions error has occurred running this script.
Please check that the script and the directory that it's in are only writable by the site administrator.
If this error persists, please contact the server administrator.
so what does that tell us please?

Set the permissions of the dyse directory to 755
Set the permissions of the view.pl file to 755
Then access view.pl: domain.com/cgi-bin/dyse/view.pl
Some servers are strict about permissions and will not run a script if the script or the directory has group write permissions enabled or has "other" write permissions enabled. Group/other write permissions can potentially cause a security hole.
FYI, the three digits of the permission indicate: user (the owner, you) permissions, group permissions, "other" (all other users) permissions.
