One of my clients sent me this email. His company sells candy online and is looking for new advertising opportunities.

"Do you know anything about companies that give away plug-ins, then sell key word or phrases that can be searched for right in the browser bar ( not via a search engine )."

My first thought was Realnames, but they are gone. I know they have some replacements, but I have no idea if they are legit or not. Any thoughts?

My next thought was that he wanted to get in on some toolbar advertising. Does anyone know of any reputable (non-parasitic) toolbars that are worth anything?

There's no way I'm steering this guy to work with ANY company that has ties to parasite behaviour. Any help you can give is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    I don't know anything about 'em, but there's CommonName.com

I was curious about them, so I'd also like some feedback

Well haikos newly discovered parasite search bar plug-in parallels the commonnames.com crap. Made the mistake of not having my brower set to disable downloads and the damn Commonnames search form on front page installed 18 spyware/adware programs on my machine (checked with Ad-Aware). It then poped up Ads even on my own site, which has no popups.

The normal un-install left 9 rogue programs after removal and reboot. Ad-Aware got rid of those too. Celia please advise us poor dupes when a link goes to a BHO parasite web page.
