    Wink Destination - Monaco
...going with the girls in just 5 days (on Sunday, 29 April). Excited!!

    Anyone been to Monaco?

Any advice re what to visit, and/or what fun things to do (apart from spending all of my savings at le Casino de Monte-Carlo, please)?!

    Many thanks in advance,

    Geno

Geno, you don't stay home much, do you? lol!

When I was young I wanted desperately to travel and see the world. Now I'd be content to just see Italy, France, Spain and Greece. I'm a sucker for antiquities, art and good food.

Geno, you remind me of a Little Feat song called "Sailing Shoes." Sail on, sail on, sailor (Beach Boys). Have fun in Monaco!

    Thank you, Rhea.

In all honesty, I am getting a bit tired of all the travel (we've just returned to England two days ago, and five days from now it's time to fly again)... But it's one of those "use it or lose it" chances... My parents-in-law will be there for a week, and my wife really wanted to visit. My little Princess is also very much excited. She loves Granny and Granpa...

I love reading posts from people who've seen places and things I haven't. Please post lots of pictures of the sites you visit and also menus of the meals you've eaten.

Geno, I'm jealous of your freewheeling lifestyle. Now that I've gotten older though I must admit I've turned into a terrible homebody. It's good to travel but it's also good to have a beautiful, comfortable home to return to. At least I got that last bit right.

If you can afford stay at the "Hotel de Paris" They have one of the best restaurants in the world the Alain Ducasse's Louis XV.
Your princess will enjoy the Oceanographic Museum and the Aquarium. Pretty old but still good. I still remember the whale skeleton. On your way enjoy the Exotic Garden and the Observatory cave.
They have something like "Changing the Guards" in front of the Prince's Palace and the State Apartments.

I always enjoy driving around. The view is breathtaking but I never stay too long in Monaco. Too many luxury shops.
Remember, don't kiss your pretty wife in elevators, even public. They have cameras everywhere. I got caught.

Cannot promise you the menus, but I'll definitely post the pictures as soon as we're back, and I have a moment to sort through them...

Sounds cool. Thank you for your advice, Zeus! It is as valuable as ever. We looked into the "Hotel de Paris", but decided to stay at the "Hermitage" instead, and that's what I have booked...

What's wrong with kissing? There's not much time to do anything else in elevators (unless you get stuck, of course)...

When I first moved to Central Florida, I walked to the ocean, looked out over the horizon and pondered, "Where would I end up if I started swimming due east and didn't stop until I hit land?" (I know, I am kinda weird like that. I used to take my toys apart to see how they worked too.)
I went home, looked on the globe and it is Monaco.

I did a small amount of research and it looks like a very nice, very rich place.

Nothing's wrong but it's quite weird to hear someone make comments on your techniques.
By the way, the Hermitage is very impressive, tres belle epoque and Garault the chef of the restaurant 'Le Vistamar" was awarded a Michelin star not so long ago.

Nice. Very much looking forward to our 5-day stay there. Glad they have good Wi-Fi access in the room. So I will be able to report on things to you all...

Ask them if it's free or how much they will charge you (daily) I had a bad experience last week in a nice Resort & Country Club (South of France) Their rate was 30 euros (daily) for a wi-fi connection thru a Swiss company ($40.92) and I was unable to stay connected more than a few minutes each time.

Geno hope you have a good time i was approx 2 -or three? i dont remember- weeks ago there.

    where are you staying?

btw monaco is my favorite city/place with zurich second... everything there -monaco- is within walking distance, great places to visit, its quite cheap in contrast with other cities, has nice night life but at the same time is very peacefull...

btw if you take bus No 6 you get a more or less tour of the city for 1 euro (its the perfect bus for everyones it goes almost everywhere there)

btw the only harsh thing to find there is an internet cafe... so its better of if you logon from the hotel (my wife didnt allow me last time we were there even to consider "thinking" of a gismo or anything related with internet access hahahahah)

    enjoy and have fun!!!

Hotel Hermitage. Arrived yesterday afternoon. Already enjoying it greatly. Should have my wife take a picture of me next to that $1mln+ Bugatti that is sitting at the front door of the hotel....

I've heard about this bus route... Gotta try it out.

That's exactly what have done (and that's how I'm connected now). 20 Euros for 24 hours of high speed Internet isn't bad at all.

I am sure. We walked by it several times. The Japanese garden next to it is great too. Enjoyed it thoroughly today...

I have a sea-view from my room too. And we have a free shuttle running to the beach every 20 mins. And we have a swimming pool with sea water (taken from 34 meters deep), and a bunch of other fun stuff...

I know. It's amazing how many Russians are here... Seems like 50% of the people around us are Russians.
