What email client do you use?
Hey, so I'm right now reading a white paper Sarah handed me, about how Outlook 2007 will use Microsoft Word instead of IE to render HTML emails. Given that Sarah and I send out HTML newsletters for our affiliate program (makes it easier to distribute all the storefront and page code)...we're wondering how many of you plan on using Outlook 2007. If a majority, guess we'll have to figure out a workaround.
    best,
    Carolyn

I use OS X Mail. I don't know what MS is trying to pull with the Word format. Just sounds silly if they don't default to HTML. Are they trying to alienate any non-Microsoft clients?

Says here in this white paper that "Despite this seemingly bad news, there is a silver lining, as one of the driving factors likely prompting the Outlook 2007 changes is fixing known security holes and weaknesses. These types of weaknesses lead to the proliferation of computer viruses, internet works, and spam -- specifically, PCs unknowingly converted into zombie spam machines."

    Zombie spam machines, love it.

Mmmm, Sarah handed me a hardcopy, but at the bottom, says it was put out by ExactTarget.com, an email marketing company. Kinda ironic, that.

I'm scared of MS ... I use webmail on the server and gmail as a back up - outlook crashed three times.

    Second vote for Thunderbird.

And I don't have ANY MS on my 'puter. No Apple either.

I hear you on that. Only thing I have is Office, but I'm considering replacing that with Open Office.

Like snib, I use OS X's mail.app along with gmail. Way slicker than eudora, outlook express, and thunderbird.

I've always used Outlook, but the future is perhaps anything except Outlook. I've been looking at options myself, like Thunderbird too as I think MS still even with the claim of "fixing known security holes and weaknesses" will either make it worse or no improvement at all in the "security" dept.

    I awate POLL results too.

Outlook Express. I never could justify paying for the full-fledged Office Suite.

I'm using Outlook Express ... I couldn'tever get Thunderbird to work right ... I'm guessing it was a me thing not setting it correctly somewhere ... or failing ot turn off something somewhere I need ed to turn off.

I use PocoMail 4.1 and absolutely love everything about it. I've used PocoMail since version 2.6, probably the last 6+years?

Outlook is an absolute, bloated joke -- and I doubt it's much better with 2007.

Thunderbird is good, but if you have several thousand email, it is incredibly slow.

I use Gmail for most of my email, download it through PocoMail -- then I have Gmail left on the server online as a great backup.

I've been using Thunderbird for over a year and love it. I had a problem with Outlook where I lost all my my emails (may have been me, may have been Outlook, I'll never know) but never had a single problem with Thunderbird.

Our European guys use The Bat and LOVE it. I use Outlook 2003 and love it but do plan to switch to 2007 at least on my future laptop with Vista.
