    Personal Milestone
    All,

Today marks a six month anniversary of no smoking, drinking nor caffeine. It was all done with will power, no pills, nor patches or anything, just my inner determination to get healthier.

The 'added' cherry on top to dropping all the vices is that in process I've also lost over 100 lbs. - it may not "look it" because I'm still a big guy, but it is 100% true. I know I have a lot more to loose but if it took me 39 years to gain it, it will take me time to lose it healthily ( my 1500 calorie diet was making me overly fixated with the weight scale and combating bouts of dizziness ).

The spark for this "health kick" was a week long stint in the hospital for a 'condition' that left me hooked up on oxygen machines/tanks 24/7 when I came home. Instead of wallering in pity and depression, I decided to kick it's ass instead of it kicking mine ... and here I am today, a leaner, healthier and better Haiko. I am still building up my stamina little by little and getting more and more active while completely understanding that it's a process and that I need to maintain both the patience and determination to continue, step by step.

I thank God, my family and friends for the support and encouragement for going through and continuing towards my goals.
    Continued Success,

    Haiko

    Congrats Haiko,

6 Months is a major milestone. I wish you continues success with your healthier ways. After reading your post I am incouraged to try some of the same things.

Was the first month harder then the other 5? Or all about the same?

    Again Congrats.

    That's amazing, Haiko!

I quit smoking with the help of a Nicotrol inhaler and that was hard enough. I don't know if I could have done it on willpower alone. Never mind giving up smoking, alcohol and coffee all at the same time *and* losing weight -- I'm very happy for your accomplishments!

You can get it if you really want, but you must try, try and try!

A huge accomplishment indeed Haiko. Those are some extreme lifestyle changes to handle all at once and it no doubt has been trying at times.
A heartfelt congrats and also a big thanks for providing this board.
    See you soon!

I'm way impressed Haiko! Giving up coffee & cigs would take me out of the game - you're amazing!

Oh and have I told you lately that I love you?

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

Very inspirational for those of us (like me) who have lapsed in efforts to control weight gain.

Congratulations Haiko. And you did all that without ending up in the psych ward, you didn't kill anyone? I don't know that I could do that! May you continue to get healthier so you can be around to get on everyone's a$$ for many more years.

That is some amazing willpower - WTG! I love the fact that you are doing it to get healthier because that can be a powerful motivator. Six months is a major milestone and to manage weight loss while you're shedding cigarettes and caffeine means you're really doing something right. Keep it up, man - I want you to be healthy for many many years to come!
